Chapter 15 - Crystal Nightmares - Part 1

Crystal's POV

My vision was clouded by darkness. I can't see or hear anything. Slowly, I start walking forward, not seeming to move anywhere. At some point, a small white light appears in the distance. I was confused because I hadn't seen anything in years. I start walking toward it. Slowly, the light got bigger. Once I finally got to it, I realized that it was a screen. Looking out of it, I saw myself running through a field of flowers with a boy. He had curly, blonde hair with warm, brown eyes. His skin was tanned and he was tall and lean. He was wearing a blue short sleeve shirt along with black jeans. It was him. My eyes teared up at the sight of my brother. This was a memory when my life was still perfect. I watched as we ran through the field. I watched as he braided my long black hair and how made him a flower crown. He wore it, despite the fact that it was falling apart. I was so happy then, so carefree. I heard his voice, at last.

"Crissy, no matter what, don't ever give up. You're strong and brave and I know what you're capable of," he said. More tears came to my eyes, but not of sadness, but of joy.

"I promise Quin. I'll never give up." younger me said, my red eyes full of happiness and curiosity. I brought my hand to the screen, hoping for this moment to last forever. The screen disappeared, but not my newfound determination. 'I promise Quin, I'll make you proud.'

I opened my eyes to see the darkness I was used to. Once my scanners had finally rebooted, I was met with the empty room which I stayed in. I then got off the bed and checked my person. I was wearing my casual clothes given to me by Pidge, so someone must have changed me. My red bandana was clutched in my hand and my knife was sitting on the bedside table. I put the knife in my pocket and set out to find the others. I widened my scanner range and only found Pidge. As I headed to the Green Lion's hanger, Coran's voice came over the intercom.

"Pidge, please come down to the detainment room." She then got up and started heading to where I assumed the detainment room was. 'Maybe that's where everyone disappeared off to.' I guessed. I decided to run after Pidge before she left my radius. After many, many, many, hallways and rooms and turns, I arrived outside the containment room. At this point, I could see everyone inside except for Allura. 'Wonder where she is.' I wondered. But I also saw Sendak in the detainment room. 'Okay Crystal, deep breaths. You can do this. He can't hurt you. And even if he tries, he doesn't have his Galra arm.' After a short self pep talk, I work up the courage to enter.

"Hey, guys," I said. Everyone turned their heads to my entrance.

"Ah, Crystal. You're awake." Shiro said.

"How did you sleep?" Pidge asked, her face pressed against Sendak's tube.

"I surprisingly slept really well," I responded, remembering my dream.

"Well, you're just in time. Coran has hooked up Sendak with a machine that can transfer his memories into something. That way we can interrogate him without him trying to kill us." Lance said. That's when I noticed the three small devices hooked onto Sendak's tube. I reached out to touch the pod, only to receive a small electric shock. I let out a yelp of surprise.

"You okay?" Pidge asked.

"Yeah, I just got a small shock from the device," I said sheepishly.

"This may not work, so be prepared for any results," Coran warned us. He then turned on the machine. Nothing seemed to happen.

"Um, is something supposed to be happening?" Hunk asked.

"Let's give it some time," Shiro said, not taking his eyes off of Sendak. After about an hour, nothing happened.

"Well, I can't wait around anymore. I'm going to hit the training deck." Keith said. Even more, time passes with no results. Slowly, only me and Shiro are left. Pretty soon, we both get somewhat restless.

"I know you're in there, Sendak. I know you have all the answers. Give them to me." Shiro said suddenly. Nothing seemed to happen. He then slammed his fist on the pod. "You're a broken soldier! You can't hold out forever!" I heard a small whirring noise coming from the memory tube. "So, you can hear me."

Shiro then started questioning Sendak. "What was the first rank you held in Zarkon's army? Where did you find the Red Lion? What is Zarkon's greatest weakness?"

"What makes you think you can possibly defeat him?" Sendak's voice said, seeming to come from all around us. I suddenly became more alert. 'No, this is impossible. He can't be awake.' I thought to myself.

"If you were to attack Zarkon, where would you strike?" Shiro tried.

"Why strike at all when you can join him?" Sendak said again, his mouth not moving and his eyes closed. This sent me into pure terror. I start backing away until I realize that I'm at the opposite end of the hallway from the door. I turn my vision to see that Shiro is just within my range. 'Jeez, how far did I go?' I questioned myself.

I then heard a noise behind me. I turn my head and vision, only to see nothing. "Who's there?" I asked. Surprisingly, I was met with a familiar voice.

"Crystal. Don't you recognize me?" It asked. My heart skips a beat at the sound of the voice.

"Quin?" I asked, my voice on the verge of tears.

"It's me, Crissy," he said, calling me by the nickname no one else knew. Then, I saw him on my scanners. He was there in front of me. I ran toward him to embrace him in a hug.

"QUIN!" I yelled in happiness, tears of joy forming in my eyes. I threw my bandana on the floor, knowing that he loved my eyes. I ran even faster. But as I went to embrace him in a hug, I phased through him and hit a wall. I turned around, confused. Then, the pod door closed behind me. "Quin?" I asked again, my voice now full of fear and confusion.

"Sorry Crissy. Only doing what I have to." Then, he disappeared. I could feel myself slowly feeling drowsy.

"What?" I asked, then I slipped into unconsciousness.

Sorry not sorry for the cliffhanger. I am sorry for how short this chapter is though. I needed to set up for the next chapter and I couldn't think of how to make it longer.
