Chapter 18 - Haggar

Crystal's POV

We all entered the bridge, heavy hearted. I still hadn't said a word since Allura's capture.

"Pidge, scan the download from the ship. Find out where Zarkon's central command is." Shiro commanded.

"On it!"

What happened? Where's Allura?" Coran asked.

"They captured her. She sacrificed herself to save me, Crystal and the information. I didn't have a choice." Shiro said.

"How is that possible?" Coran demanded.

"Coran, I'm sorry things didn't go as planned, but we can't focus on what went wrong. We've got to figure out how to make it right. Pidge, anything?"

"Guys, look at this." Pidge said.

0"Look at the size of it!" Coran said. 'Probably a hologram I can't see.' I thought bitterly.

"I think we should go in right away. Every minute we waste gives Zarkon time to prepare for us." Pidge said.

"I agree. We form Voltron, fly in, fly out, dust off our hands, and walk away." Lance said.

"Um, do you guys not remember the Balmera? We could barely take out one fleet. But this... a base this size could hold a thousand fleets!" Hunk then said. 'His ship must be huge then.'

"Or maybe we shouldn't go on this mission at all. Think about it. We'll be delivering the universe's only hope to the universe's biggest enemy." Hy heart stopped when Keith said this.

"Keith, that's cold, even for you. What if it was one of us? What if it was me? You wouldn't leave me, would you? Would you?" Hunk asked. 'He would.' I thought.

"I'm not saying I like the idea. I'm just thinking like a paladin." Keith then said. Anger bubbled inside of me.

"No, you're thinking of yourself because you're too scared to do what's right!" Lance yelled.

"Okay, we're all upset because we lost Allura." Pidge said trying to stop the argument.

"No, Shiro and Crystal lost Allura!" Coran yelled. Finally, I found words.

"We are going to get Allura, no matter what and that's the end of it." I yelled, my voice strong. Everyone stared at me.

"Crystal...." Pidge started.

"It's my fault Allura got captured and I'm not going to sit around while the Galra do who knows what to her." I said. I then turned my back to them and started thinking. 'Was I too harsh?' I started wondering. 'No, they needed to realise that we couldn't leave her.' Everyone then went to their own stations and started trying to figure out ways to rescue Allura. I saw Shiro walk up behind me and put his hand on my shoulder.

"It isn't your fault Crystal." he whispered. Sadness started filling me.

"I ran into the pod like a coward. I didn't even wait to see if you or Allura had made it inside the room or not." I said in a monotone voice. He then pulled me closer so my head was resting on his arm.

"We'll get her back. I promise." he then left to talk with Lance. I let out a small sigh and kept on staring at nothing.

"Everyone, eyes front. We've got a plan to get Allura. We're going to jump to the heart of the enemy, unseen and undetected."

"I thought we needed Allura to open up a wormhole." Pidge asked.

"It's true that Allura powers the Castle's ability to travel through wormholes. However, I think we have enough of her residual essence stored in the system to make one jump. We'll hide the Castle here, inside one of these giant gas planets in Zarkon's command system. The gas is so dense, we'll be hidden." Coran said.
