Chapter 5 - Prisoner

*This is still Crystal telling the story. Still before Some Assembly Required

When I woke up, I was sent to the gladiator arena and what happened will always scare me. I was shoved into the arena with a sword in hand. I was fighting a galra and at one point, I was on the ground bleeding. He had spent the entire time mocking me, calling me names. He got my bandana off at one point and he had it in hand. This made me angry. But then he said one thing that sealed his fate.

"You know, you're just as weak as your father." he taunted. Those words. He had no idea what would happen. Then, I had a headache, unlike any I had before. But after a few seconds, it was gone and so was the commander. I was standing in the middle of the arena with the bandana in hand. The crowd was silent. Then there was another needle in my back and I collapsed again.

Later I woke up in a cell. The other prisoners were afraid of me. I asked why and they didn't respond.

"Please," I pleaded. "I don't know what is happening and I just want to go home." Then I curled up in a ball and started crying. Eventually, I feel four arms wrap around me. The skin was cold but soft. At first, I froze, not sure how to feel. But then, he started humming a lullaby. He rocked me in the way my father would and it calmed me down.

"Are you sure you want to know?" said a male voice. I nodded.

What he told me shocked me to my core. Apparently, when the commander had said what he did I had collapsed to the floor screaming in pain. But when it stopped I started floating. My eyes were glowing yellow like the galra and then I went at him with full force. I got him to the ground and got my bandana back. Then I had my fingers together and 'created' and yellow orb the size of a beach ball and threw it at him. There was a loud scream and dust and when it settled, he was gone, vaporized, wiped from existence. Then, I had collapsed. When I heard this I was shocked. 'How' I kept asking myself. After a few moments of silence, I asked him a question.

"What is your name?" I ask, scared by my new surroundings, my new powers and what I could to others.

"My name? I never had one," he said in a wistful tone.

"Would you mind if I gave you a name?"

"No, I wouldn't."

"How about, Bocher?" I ask.

"I like it. What is your name young one?" he replied.

"My name... My name is Crystal."

A few hours pass when the door opens and I'm taken out of the cell. "BOCHER!" I cry out, over and over as I'm strapped to a table in a strange room.

"Shush little one. It will speed this process along if you just hold still." said a voice from the darkness.

"Who... who are you," I say, trying to keep the fear out of my voice, but failing miserably.

"My name is Haggar, though that shouldn't matter. We are going to do some... Tests on you. Mostly to figure out how you vapourised Vehdal. And how to control your powers."

I won't go into the details, but from that day forward I was her little lab rat. They kept trying to get me to use my powers, hurting me over and over again. But after a while, I became numb, painless. Nothing she did would affect me. In the next three years, nothing much happened. All they really did was replace my feet with sensors that when touching a surface could see in every direction for up to 40 feet. But they also learned something else. One day I woke up, but Bocher wasn't there. I screamed, trying to find him, but he was gone. This activated my powers. Yellow orbs were flying everywhere, hitting the walls and exploding. I ended up killing the two other prisoners that Bocher and I shared a cell with. When the Galra came in to see what the commotion was about, I killed them too. They tried to punish me, but as I was numb there wasn't much they could do. They had yet to figure out my weakness. After that, they only sent robots to guard me and when they gave me cellmates, I would always stay to myself, not daring to speak to them knowing they would die eventually.
