For a few days, Veronica, Archie, Betty and Jughead hadn't seen each other, considering all the school work they had missed significantly. Finally getting back to doing something which teenagers were supposed to do felt refreshing, they could concentrate on studies, prom, music without having a care. Just being a normal teenager.

Being next door neighbours, archie and betty studied together. The two kids, best friends since like forever hadn't changed a bit. They were happy to spend time together again.
It felt like they barely even saw each other anymore.

"Archie have you talked to Veronica?" Betty asked as she looked up at him from the opposite side of the table.

"Just normal talk, it seems she doesn't really want to talk about her dad" he sighed.

"It can't be helped, this is how she is" betty replied

"Sometimes i think .....never mind forget it its too crazy anyway" archie frowned

"Archie what is it? You can talk to me"

"Its just, i feel that Veronica has changed, i mean she has started to block us out have you noticed? Its like she doesn't trust us...trust me. And the worst part is that this should affect me more, but im surprisingly okay with it..."

"Archie. Veronica hasn't changed, the circumstances have changed. And i for one know that Veronica trusts us. There must be another reason for her actions so we have to give her time okay?" She said holding Archie's hand.

"And what do you mean you are okay with it? Don't you love her anymore?"

"I do. I will always love her. But i guess not that way i used too i guess.....look im sure its because of the scenario right now,we haven't been spending time together,so maybe that's why. It will probably change when school starts and things will go back to being normal."

Betty nodded and smiled at Archie. And went back to completing her homework.

They were both at a point in their lives where they could understand who their soulmates are, but strangely both of them doubted if they were with the right people
Yes she loved Jughead. But he's changed. She fell in love the boy who loved to write, solve mysteries who had no relation to any gang. The spark between them had dulled and sooner or later she needed to face it and she knew by the way Archie was talking he felt the same way about Veronica Betty thought as she sneaked a glance at archie.

Looking at Archie, suddenly made her remember all those fun stupid times they spend together. She started to wonder what if? She shaked her head, trying to get her mind focus on something else.

Archie had noticed betty staring at him and saw her shake her head and curiously asked "what's up betty? What were you thinking?"

She looked at him and smiled " oh just reminiscing childhood memories"
He smiled and said "yeah? Which one ?"

"Do you remember in 2nd grade you asked me to marry you coz i helped you pass your exams? You were so cute!" Betty said

He laughed "yeah i remember, and u said that we're too young to get married, ask me when we're 18 and you'll say yes"

They laughed. Feeling nostalgic.

"It was so simple back then" betty said
Smiling.

"Betty would you have said yes if i had asked you to be with me?" Archie said as his expression turned serious

"Archie...."

"I know when u first told me your feelings, i rejected you, but somewhere i always thought, by later days we would end up together..." He continued

"Archie, there's no point discussing this now. We are both with different people. Who are amazing. Its no use thinking about what ifs" she said but feeling conflicted how can she say to him to not think about what ifs when earlier she was doing it herself? She felt like a hypocrite.

"Yeah you're right. I don't know what got into me" he said.

"I should go now. My mom would kill me" she smiled as she gathered her books

"Are you sure? We could order pizza and watch a movie?" Archie said getting up

"Maybe later" she smiled at him

As he saw her leave, he felt sad, disappointed to see her leave. This feeling he was getting it started to make him think that maybe, just maybe his heart belongs to someone else.

Betty was quiet when she entered her room. She sat on her bed and just stared at her phone. The discussion at Archie's had got her thinking what if her crush on Archie was still there?
This thought scared her.

She didn't want to hurt Jughead or Veronica. She cared about them too much. So she decided to get her feelings on check.

She has to stop thinking about Archie.

She knew it was going to be hard, but she's got to try anyway
