chapter 20

Archie and betty were in the janitor's closet, it had become their secret spot since the last 3 weeks they had been secretly dating  when the bell rang and it was time for them to head for the class.

"I don't want to leave right now" archie groaned

Betty giggled "well, we'll see each other soon"

He smirked "very soon"

Betty blushed. They both got out within 5 minutes of each other. They were careful as to not go out together.

Betty shared the next class with Veronica. But this time, she was happy. She wasn't feeling bad this time. She was being honest with herself ans her feelings.

Betty had let go of her conscience for being with archie. She wanted to be reckless. But she had absolutely no idea how she would feel once she actually faced Veronica. It was different when she imagined it, but it would be different and difficult to actually go through it.
The moment she saw Veronica, she had a terrible feeling. It felt like someone had just strangled her. But she pushed the feeling away. She won't find out! Yeah. She thought

Veronica walked to betty and asked"whats up girl? You look happy" she smiled at her

Betty smiled back "i just did something that i really wanted to do for some days. It was bugging me"

"That's great. What was it?"

"Oh.. uh...uh......its a secret for now. Ill tell you when it shows profit" she says

Veronica looked at her suspiciously "b. You tell me everything. Why aren't you telling me this?

"Oh. I just want to make sure its right before i tell anyone. Not even jughead knows."

"Okay. Fine. But i want to be the first one to know okay?"

Hearing that Betty's face fell. She would be the first to know.

Things weren't that easy with jughead either.

He had started to question her about her whereabouts.

"We haven't spent a day together since forever. So what say? Tomorrow? We'll spend the whole day together." He smiled

"I...i uh.... I can't"

His face fell"why?"

"Im just very busy. Tutoring archie, my editor duties... sometimes i just want to rest you know?"

"You have time to spend with archie, but not with me. I get it. Bye betty" he stormed off.

She felt her heart hammering. She has never lied this much to anyone. But she convinced herself this is what she wants.

Jughead was angry. He drove to pop and ordered his usual. Veronica who was working there had seen him enter and knew he was angry so she offered to take his tray to his booth to find.out whats wrong

"Whats wrong torombolo?" She asked as she sat down across him

"Nothing"  he said said as he dug into his food

"Come on, i thought we were friends"

He looked at her and scoffed " we've been friends for like what? 7 weeks now? So what gives you the right to question me as if we have known each other for so long that u just looked at me and knew something was wrong."

"Wow." "I'll let you be then. Coz clearly you've lost your head"

"Leave, why dont'cha? Just like everyone else" she scowled

"Okay mister. You're giving me mixed signals. You want me to leave or no?"

He looked away and she sighed. She got up and as she was about to pass him by he caught hold of her wrist and whispered "no. Stay"

She simply sat back and waited.

"Im sorry for acting like a douche right now"

She nodded " its alright. Its clear you're not in your usual state of mind. You're angry. Something happen with betty?"

He nodded and told her everything. She knew betty was acting weird. But hearing jughead feeling the same way made her feel like, yeah, she wasn't imagining things. But she had to be supportive.

"Jug. She has a lot on her plate. Her brother Charles has suddenly returned from the dead and all the tutoring. She is probably.ore tired then she is letting on"

"Veronica, it doesn't excuse anything! You work here, u tutor me and hang with archie. If you can do it why can't she?"

"To be honest, im not spending time with archie, as much as id like. I have asked hi , but he says he's to busy with studies and football"

"Geez. Our love life sucks"

"Tell me about it. Its like they don't have time for us. Like only they have things to do"

"Yeah. We barely hang out now. But still. I love her. I want to be with her as long as she'll have me"

Veronica smiled "that's how I feel about archie"

"So you think i should apologise?"

".....no. let the matter be the past. It wasn't ur fault. Just forget it ever happened. Okay now well. I have to work. You'll be alright?"

"Yeah ill be fine princess" he smiled at her
