chapter 19

Veronica was mad. She was mad at Archie for his reaction. He didn't trust her. He didn't trust her!! After all she did for him.

Jughead who sat next to her, saw her clenching her jaw. He knew she was angry. She had every right to be. He simply took her hands in his as a calming gesture.

She looked at him startled. And smiled. "Thanks. But im fine"
He nodded "but you're angry at Archie"

She sighed "sometimes, i feel i don't even know him and that he doesn't love me"

"You don't mean that"

"Dont i? If he loved me, he would trust me"
She said looking sad

"He didn't want to lose you. Why don't you think that way?" He said softly

"Being positive always is emotionally draining jughead"

"But it doesn't hurt right?"

"No it doesn't. But jughead its foolish not to see the reality. Always being optimistic. How can anyone be like that?"

"Its called hope Veronica. That everything will be okay."

"I have learnt to never hope. It only causes pain. I hoped that my father will change,he didn't. He turned my friends against me. I hoped my mother would support my decision, instead she became depressed. How can i hope?"

"That's why you need hope. It brings you peace and something to look forward too. You have to hope to live happily. You, princess are in desperate need for hope"

She just looked at him. "You do have a way with words"

"Im a writer after all" he smirked.

She smiled "thanks jughead. For being here with me"

"Always. Princess. Anytime" he smiled at her

"what betty? Are you okay?" Archie said as he rushed to the janitor closet.

He ran as soon as soon as he read Betty's text. He was worried. Did something happen?

"We need to talk." She said as she closed the door behind him

"What now betty? I think i get it. You don't want to be with me! But isn't it enough times that you have told me? How many times more? I wont ever stop. Maybe not today. Not tomorrow but one day you will say yes. Coz i know you feel the same way. But right now I don't think i have the strength for your rejection again"

She looked at him with widened eyes " do my words affect you that much?"

"Of course betty. I am affected by everything you do"

"But why? You say you like me. But then you get angry with Veronica for hanging out with jughead. Who do you really want archie?" Betty questioned

Archie had nothing to say. He didnt know himself. Veronica was his back-up. If things didn't turn out good with betty, he could always go back to betty. He had built his security blanket around Betty and Veronica.

"Archie what are you thinking?"

"That i really like you, but i cant seem to let Veronica go." He said being honest

She nodded. She wanted to be honest for once. "me too."

He was surprised at her confession."betty?"

"Its frustrating okay? My feelings don't matter as much as of V and jugs does. They haven't done anything to deserve this."

"I know. That's why its so conflicting betty. But we can't ignore our feelings. For how long can you pretend? For how long can you pretend to jug that you don't like him in that way anymore?"

"As long as i can."

He sighed "why have you called me here?"

She looked down."i was confused as to what to do. I wanted to talk to you before i made a decision. I realised that either way im hurting my friends. Its just a matter of time."

He nodded nervously "so?"
He stepped closer to her

"Will you be with me betty?" He said as he pinned her to the wall

She was quiet. Thinking. Should she heave Cheryl's advice? Should she listen to her heart and betrayed her best friends? Or should she do the right thing and walk away? But then for how long? For how long could she keep away? It didn't work the last time, she decided to stay away from him.

She was fighting her conflicting feelings. But she knew it was time. Time to decide.

"Archie, if we do this, jug and V must never find out"
He smiled as he pressed his body against hers and leaning down "they won't"

"And we aren't going to rush this" betty said . She felt her heart beat faster with the closeness of archie

He kissed her. "We won't"
He put his arm around her, pulling her to him

"And we are going to be super careful, no.one has to know" she whispered out of breath
