chapter 13

Guilt. That's all they felt. Guilty for cheating, guilty for betraying their best friends.

Betty shook her head is desperation "archie, what are we going to do now?" She was worried.

Archie saw her crumbling to the ground and he quickly went to her side

"Betty! Are you okay?"

"Am i okay? Archie how could you even ask me that!"

"We.. we just had a moment betty! It won't happen again"

"It shouldn't have happened."

"Betty, was... Was it a mistake?"

He didn't say it was a mistake,but he wanted to know how she really felt.

"Yes. It was. We are with other people Archie. I don't want to hurt them."

Archie who was only feeling guilty, now felt heartbroken. For him, knowing he was in the wrong,but somehow kissing betty, felt right. And hearing her say it was a mistake it shattered him

"Well then, i apologize. You should go." Archie said looking away.

Betty stared at him. She could see be was hurt, but what could she do? She was not ready to face her feelings.
She just nodded and packed her things and left. Ahe needed time alone anyway.

As soon as she left, in anger and frustration archive punched the wall, creating a dent. Why does he always so this? Hurt people around him.. always..i keep hurting people around me he thought.

The whole day he spent in his room. He didn't get out. He didn't want to face anyone.

Archie now understood that he no longer was in love with Veronica. He had fallen out of love. He didn't know when, he didn't know how. But knowing his feelings didn't change the fact that he cares for Veronica. He can't break up with her. It would break her heart. He didn't want to hurt her.

The selfish part of him didn't want to let go of Veronica. He couldn't. She was there for him always and didn't want to lose her. Veronica was his 2nd chance. He knew it was wrong, but he couldn't help it, he couldn't let go of the feelings and love he felt for her the last 2 years.  What if ...he never found love again?

No. He won't tell her. It was a mistake anyway right? He scoffed.

He messaged betty to meet him outside. He said it was important. He knew ahe wouldn't come otherwise.

Meanwhile betty was in shock. She kissed him. She was afraid of this.
Why couldn't she just stay away?

She knew, she knew god damnit! that this would happen sooner or later this would happen. She couldn't control her feelings and now she just hurt Veronica and Jughead.

What lead to this?
Veronica and Jughead not spending time with them? Or was it inevitable?

Didn't her feelings for Archie die down? Or was it just always there and she chose to ignore her feelings? How desperate was she to get over Archie that she considered her liking for Jughead to be love?

No! I loved Jughead! I did! She tried consoling herself, blaming everything on the circumstances.

Who was she kidding though? Herself? She probably never stopped loving Archie.

Will Jughead and Veronica forgive her like the last time? She knew they wouldn't. They would be too hurt and won't be able to forgive her.

She was crying when ahe heard her phone ring. She opened it.to.see Archie's message stating them to meet outside now.

She cleaned up and went out to see Archie standing there.

"What?" Betty questioned

"We can't tell Jughead and Veronica."

"We can't lie Archie"

"Yes we can, it was a mistake anyway right?"

Betty was shook by the venomous tone of Archie's voice

"They'll find out, we can't lie to our best friends"

"We can. Forget what happened, everything will go back to normal tomorrow. They never have to find out"

"But..."

"But what betty? Do you want to hurt them? Even after all that's happened?"

"No.. but lying?"

"Its the only choice"

Betty was in a dilemma. But she agreed. She didn't want to hurt anyone.

"Okay"

"Good." Archie nodded.
