At four o'clock in the morning, I woke up to hear my mothers shuffling footsteps as she left the house. I turned over in bed to face you and smiled. You hadn't disappeared.
I felt kind of creepy watching you sleep, but all the same I didn't care. You were like a whole new person when you slept. Even cuter, but in a less sexy way. Your skin was better than mine, all buttery and soft. I traced the shape of your face in the dark, and you smiled in your sleep. Your arm wrapped tighter around my waist.
As you breathed slowly and peacefully, I sat up cautiously, trying not to wake you up. Now that you couldn't distract me, I could really think about us. What Marin said, about her stealing you, scared me. But, I was tricked by that sleeping face, all angelic on my pillow. I was sure Marin was lying. Absolutely, positively sure. No one could get in between us. I was falling for you, after all, and I thought you were falling for me, too.
