Jimin was seated across his mother, Taehyung being the one to order. They didn't go far, simply went to a café nearby. Jimin was nervous and tensed up, body showing his discomfort. He was surprised by their sudden visit and the boy made sure to talk to Taehyung afterwards about it.

"How are you, son?" Jimin's mother, Mrs. Park, asked. In the younger's eyes, his mother looked the same. Colored brown hair, wrinkles, and eyes the same as Jimin's. She wore a simple shirt, alongside pants and her favorite pair of sandals. She looked so simple and petite, but Jimin was still scared to talk with her. Hell, the boy flinched when his mother spoke.

"I'm good," Jimin quickly replied, not having the guts to look at his mother straight in the eye. He just can't.

"How's school? What are you up to these days?" the woman asked, looking at her son. She stared at him, the fact that she was sitting with her Jimin slowly sinking in. The younger fidgeted in his seat, feelings his mother's eyes on him.

"I-I stopped going to college a year ago," Jimin said, not sparing a single glance at his mother. He knew it, knew his mother would be extremely disappointed.

"Stopped? What do you mean 'stopped'? Don't tell me you dropped out, w-why?" she croaked, not being able to comprehend what her son has just told her. Her shoulders sank as she looked at Jimin, trying to get an answer from the male.

"Since you k-kicked me out, I was on my own. I- I had to Mom, I needed to get by and school was costing me a lot," he answered. Before Mrs. Park could utter a reply, Taehyung came with their drinks. Jimin rose a brow, seeing there were only two cups of coffee.

"Didn't you order three, Tae? Where's yours?" Jimin asked, seeing that his best friend had already placed the beverages in front of them.

"Well, Jungkook was saying he wanted me to bring him some Chinese take-out. I kinda want Chinese too so yeah," he shrugged, sliding beside Jimin in the booth. Mrs. Park's eyes glimmered at the mention of Jungkook's name.

"Oh, Jungkook? That boy is great, Taehyung! He's a keeper," she commented. Jimin was taken aback. What happened to all the homophobic remarks she threw at him? Why was she so good to Jungkook and Taehyung, yet was so harsh with him? He bottled it up though, not wanting to lash out at both his mother and best friend. As much as he hated his mother's past actions, he had to be there and listen. Deep inside of him, he wanted to listen. He wanted to know why they did what they did, and why she popped out of nowhere when he was finally getting his life on track.

"Thank you, ma'am," Taehyung answered, a rosy tint dusting his cheeks. Nobody dared to speak up afterwards, the awkward tension enveloping the atmosphere. The pink-haired male cleared his throat, earning the attention of his companions.

"So . . . want to know how your mother met me, Jiminie?" Taehyung started, gently kicking Jimin under the table. Jimin looked at him, quickly to his mother, and back at Taehyung.

"How?" Jimin asked, eyes solely on Taehyung. He didn't have the guts to look at his mom and talk with much confidence, because he knew he can't. He'd end up crying, and that's the least he wanted to do.

"Your brother contacted me. It was months ago, Chim. After Christmas and all. W-we talked about it without letting you know and your mother just really wanted to meet you," Taehyung said, looking at Jimin with sincerity. Jimin was surprised, eyes widening as he took in his best friend's words.
