Sam's finger hovered over the send button

The message read: Hey Liam it's Sam... did you wanna walk today or you good?

Sam cringed at the casual nature of the text wondering if Liam would find him desperate

But then he saw: Hey I'm outside if you are ready to go?

Fuck how did Liam do that? It was so normal... Sam needed to calm down

Grabbing his keys, wallet and bag Sam left his house and quickly stopped at the sight of Liam leaning against his car, the morning light turning his brown hair slightly red

Shaking his head Sam cleared his mind of the thought, trying to pretend it never crossed his mind

Liam looked up and took in the slightly awkward but handsome blonde in front of him and gently smiled

"Hey Liam you ready to go?"

"Yeah it's not far, right? We can take my car if you want?"

"Nah it's only ten minutes up the road but if it rains we can take your car"

They walked in comfortable silence and just enjoyed the fresh morning.

And then the mood between the two boys darkened. Worry bled into Liam's skin as the school came into view.

Gripping his bag straps harder Liam felt Sam's eyes on his whitening knuckles.

Without thinking Sam grabbed the hand clutching the strap and turned Liam towards him.

"Hey" he said gently "you'll be fine. Ok? I'm going to be with you today as your personal tour guide so don't worry" Sam smiled hoping Liam would calm down

Liam smiled down at the other boy and whispered "Ok. Ok if you are going to be there I'll be ok"

Sam flushed and then once realising he still held Liam's hand he blanched and let go quickly and rushed to the school with Liam in tow. Shit... Sam was hoping Liam hadn't thought that was weird...

But Liam had zoned out, looking at the doors as if they would eat him.

"SAMMY!!" Lily screeched causing everyone nearby to cringe.

Liam sighed hoping that Sam would still let them be friends even with his crazy sister.

Lily hugged Sam almost knocking him off his feet while Paige trailed behind her rolling her eyes.

"Lily get off my brother please" Paige glared as Lily smiled sheepishly.

Paige was a year older and was on a gap year so she had walked Lily to school before going to work.

Sam was pale as he stepped closer to Liam avoiding Lily. "Umm so we should go in yeah?" Sam tried to get everyone to change the topic

"Ok let's go" Paige lead the way to the front desk getting the two new siblings registered

As Paige led the downcast Lily away from the boys and pointed her towards Physics, Sam pulled Liam towards Maths. Girls whispered as the two entered and Sam tried to avoid everyone's eyes rushing to his desk and dragged Liam into the spot next to him.

Only an hour and a half to get through-Sam was desperate at this point as the lesson started
