Sam rushed next door, desperate to see Liam and tell him everything.
Knocking on the door, he was pulled in as soon as the door was opened. Liam's brown eyes scanned Sam worriedly as he ran his hands over either side Sam's face checking that Sam wasn't hurt. Sam protested, laughing "I'm ok Liam, I promise"
Liam ran his hands finally into Sam's hair and rested their foreheads together breathing deeply.
Sam kissed Liam's palm causing the other boy to speak "I was so worried. I've been pacing up and down for the last hour"
"I'm so sorry Liam I lost track of time. I didn't mean to worry you"
"How did it go?" Liam pulled Sam to the sofa
Sam smiled "Good. Really good. We healed wounds that hadn't been touched since before Paige got sick. I think my family might actually be called a family soon" Sam chuckled.
Liam felt a weight lift off his shoulders and he lifted Sam's chin, kissing him deeply.
"You know" Sam started as they broke apart "when I wrote that story you read, I was so confused" He chuckled "I couldn't understand why I thought about you so much. God I was stupid"
Liam smiled at Sam as he continued.
"I didn't realise that I had written about you, about us"
"What?" Liam was confused
"My story. I was the flower and you were the moon. It's like my subconscious was calling to you" Sam's eyes were stormy again "I thought I shouldn't like you, that I was just confused"
Sam's eyes then cleared with realisation "But there is nothing confusing about us. I've never felt more free, more comfortable and more at home than with you. You make me feel strong and I can't believe you'd like someone like me"
Liam's eyes shone and he breathed deeply at Sam's confession "When I first met you, in the garden that first time, you were so mad at me for picking the plants. The reason I was, was because I was trying to pluck up the courage to talk to you"
"I was so happy when you were going to the same school as me, I was like a kid." Liam put his hand on Sam's cheek "I thought you were the most beautiful boy I had ever seen. And then I got to know you, and you also had a wonderful mind"
Sam kissed Liam, who pushed Sam back onto the sofa. Liam rested on top of Sam, pushing his hands through Sam's hair again. He hoped his kiss could portray the deep sense of relief at Sam being ok. Sam smiled against the kiss, breaking it for a moment to see those brown eyes again, before kissing him harder.
"Ummm Liam?" Lily's voice caused the boys to break apart. From her angle Lily couldn't see who Liam was with. Laughing she continued "I'm happy you have found someone to put up with you but could you not do this in a public area"
Liam was a deep shade of red "Ok got it Lily. Can you leave now?"
"Hey you have to introduce me!"
Liam glanced back at Sam and they cringed at the impending doom that awaited their reveal.
Sam coughed "Hey Lil" he said sitting up, trying to smooth down his hair.
Lily's face dropped "Sam? B-but—" she couldn't finish
Liam stood up, pulling Sam with him "this wasn't really they way I wanted you to find out" Liam hoped that Lily's crush had not lasted this long. He was wrong.
"Fuck you, Liam" she sobbed, running upstairs to her room.
"Ahh shit" Liam cursed "don't worry she isn't going to tell anyone"
