LUKE'S POV
After I had got over the initial guilt and incessant apologizing for what had happened, things between Lucey and I began going very smoothly. We never fought anymore, and the next few days were full of affectionate kisses and the occasional snuggle. Naturally, and since Calum can't keep his damn mouth shut, the rest of the boys soon found out, and, though they weren't exactly surprised, they congratulated us continually every chance they got. Life was as good, if not better, than it had been before Lucey had left. I had not been this content for almost eight months. Everything was perfect.
Except for one little thing.
Lucey was making it incredibly hard to "take things slow". Even when she didn't mean to be, she was a huge distraction. With her long, fiery hair and bright smile, it was hard for me to think of anything other than how badly I wanted her. Then there were the times when she actually tried to make things difficult. Like when she'd bat her stupid eyelashes or bite her stupid lip. I wasn't sure how much longer I would be able to hold out at this rate.
"Lukey," she whined from beneath me as I supported myself over her small body, drawing my attention back to the present.
"Yes?" I replied, eyes half-closed as her slender fingers tugged at the ends of my hair.
"I love you," she whispered, green eyes meeting mine intensely.
I gazed down at her, getting a bit lost in her beauty. God, she was beautiful. "And I love you."
"Promise?" She asked, followed by that signature lip-bite.
I swallowed hard. "Promise."
"Good," she giggled, wrapping her legs around my waist and pulling me closer to her.
"Lucey," I said, trying to resist her advances. This was all wrong. After she freaked out the other day, I thought we'd decided to take it slow. Anymore it just seemed like she was trying to speed it up. What did she want from me? I was getting some pretty mixed signals here.
"Mmm?" She hummed, lips pressed flush against my neck.
Gulp.
"Lucey-Oh, God," I struggled. She was making this really hard. Literally. "Lu, listen to me," I urged, finally managing to pull away.
"Yes?" She smirked, looking up at me with those imitation puppy eyes that were totally not going to work right now. Her legs tightened around my hips, but I shook my head.
"Stop that," I scolded, rolling off of her and sitting at the edge of the bed.
"What's wrong?" She inquired softly, looking a little hurt at my rejection. "Did I do something?"
"Yes! I mean no. It's just-- Do you have any idea how hot you are?" I blurted out.
"What?"
"You are so fucking tempting, Lucey, and it's driving my crazy. We agreed to take things slow, for your sake, and now you're practically begging me to go farther. I'm getting confused." I ran my hand through my hair, frustrated with this whole situation.
"I'm sorry," she muttered, staring down a her hands. She looked embarrassed.
"No," I sighed. "Don't be sorry. It's just hard for me to do the right thing when I can't even tell what you want anymore. You say you need to take things slow, and that's totally fine, but you being so sexy all the time is really not working out for me."
She let out a light chuckle. "Guess I'm just too much for you to handle."
"You have no idea," I mumbled, wiping my palms across my thighs nervously. Lucey reached over and grabbed my hands.
"Don't feel bad. It's my fault, really."
"None of this is your fault. It's all my stupid hormones." That much was true. I felt like some immature prepubescent boy who couldn't keep his mind out of the gutter.
"I just don't want you to get bored with me..." She trailed off.
"Right. Like I could get bored with you. That would be like getting bored with breathing," I scoffed.
"You deserve more than this," she argued, still acting like she was ashamed of herself.
"No," I said. "Absolutely not. I'm perfectly content with the way we are now, and I will love you no matter what."
Lucey cracked a tiny smile and I knew I'd convinced her. "Even when my boobs drag the ground?"
"Don't push it," I joked.
"Thank you, Luke," she laughed, burying her face into my shoulder and hugging me tight. "From now on, I'll try to be less sexy so it's easier for you to avoid jumping my bones."
"I appreciate that," I agreed sarcastically. Why was she so adorable?
"Good. Now that we're all on the same page, can we pick up where we left off?" She asked as she kissed my jaw tenderly and ran a hand up my chest.
As much as I wanted to continue, I somehow managed to resist. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! What did we just say?!" Was she serious right now??
Lucey giggled hysterically. "I was just testing you," she said as she poked my nose.
I rolled my eyes. Unbelievable. "How'd I do?"
"I think you passed," she grinned, and I nodded triumphantly. "But we'll see how long your winning streak lasts."
