Someone nudges me, bringing me out of my day dream. I turn to look into the eyes of a concerned Eilidh. "Are you okay?" she whispers.
I nod and try to turn my attention to my English teacher. Eilidh's eyes still continue to look into mine.
"What?" I say quite harshly, perhaps rather loudly.
Eilidh seems taken aback and even worse, my little outburst has grabbed the attention of Miss. Ackerman.
"Sorry girls, was I talking over your conversation? How rude of me."
Her scowl makes me squirm in my seat. "No Miss. Ackerman. I'm sorry, please continue."
She turns back towards the board and begins writing something down. Eilidh takes this as her oppurtunity to glare at me. "What was that all about?"
"I'm sorry,"I whisper back. Her stone eyes glance over me one last time before they soften and she returns her gaze back to the board.

Eilidh and I sit at the lunch table we always sit at with Natasha and a few other of our friends. Zoe's curly, highlighted blonde hair bounces as she joins us at the table.
"Hi guys!" She always has a positive energy everywhere she went. I wish I could be like her.
I prod at my food with my fork, pushing it around my plate.
"Right okay, out with it Rebecca, what's the matter with you?" Eilidh asks.
I lift my head at the mention of my name. "What did you say?"
"What's the matter with you?" she repeats.
"What do you mean?"
She gives an exasparated sigh. "You've been acting all distant. I'm your best friend, I think I know when something's up with you. I mean what about your little outburst in English today?" She raises her eyebrows at me.
I glance around the table at the others. Their faces mirror Eilidh's concerned one.
"It's just Jessica," I mumble.
Eilidh closes her eyes and shakes her head. She opens them again and it's like her emerald green eyes can now see right through me. "I thought I told you just to ignore her?"
"But the thing is, I shouldn't have to ignore her, should I?" I look at the others too, looking for confrimation. They all shake their heads. No, I shouldn't. "I'm eighteen and I'm fed up of this shit and being treated like a piece of dirt by that evil girl."
Zoe looks confidently at me when she says,"But by ignoring her, you're showing her that you are far better than she will ever be." Everyone else nods in agreement.
I smile at everyone and give a faint laugh. "Thanks guys, you really cheered me up. I'm so lucky to have friends like you." I look at Eilidh. "Especially a friend like you."
