The rest of the week was uneventful. The sixth years nearly drowned in all of the homework they were given. Their hands grew numb of writing essays for Potions, Charms, Herbology and Astronomy. It was the last week before Christmas holiday and the professors weren't going easy on them.Draco and Lorelai had handed in their star chart on Monday and were given an O for their excellent work. They recieved the best grade in their class. They haven't had an opportunity to talk and Lorelai still didn't exactly know what happened the night of the party.
Ginny was in Lorelai and Hermione's dormitory getting ready for Slughorn's party. They had Ginny's "Book of Beauty Spells" opened on Hermione's bed and were currently curling their hair using a charm they found on one of the pages.
"So the other day I was in the library reading a book on muggle makeup and I learned a few things. Can I do your makeup?" Ginny asks when she finishes curling her hair.
"Something light please." Hermione says. She isn't a big fan of makeup.
Ginny grabs Hermione's arm and sits her down in front of the mirror. She grabs Lorelai's makeup bag and starts working her magic. When she finishes Hermione is in awe. It looks like she has no makeup on at all but her face looks flawless.
Lorelai on the other hand was much bolder when it came to makeup. She let Ginny do whatever she wanted on her face. Ginny ended up putting just concealer on Lorelai's face to cover up her dark circles and some blemishes. She finished with a black smokey eye, but she made sure to not put too much color to not over exagerate, and a nude lip.
Ginny also had a green dress, but her dress had black detailing on it. Her makeup was rather similar to Lorelai's but she had a golden smokey eye and a thin line of eyeliner.
The three girls looked beautiful and had their dates in awe as they walked down the stairs to the common room. Hermione had combined to meet Cormac at the party so she could keep it a surprise.
Dean, Ginny, Harry, Lorelai and Hermione walked to the sixth floor corridor to Slughorn's office where the party would take place.
The ceiling and walls had been draped with emerald, crimson and gold hangings, so that it looked as though they were all inside a vast tent. The room was crowded and stuffy and bathed in the red light cast by an ornate golden lamp dangling from the centre of the ceiling in which real fairies were fluttering, each a brilliant speck of light.
Loud singing accompanied by what sounded like mandolins issued from a distant corner; a haze of pipe smoke hung over several elderly warlocks deep in conversation, and a number of house-elves were negotiating their way squeakily through the forest of knees, obscured by the heavy silver platters of food they were bearing, so that they looked like little roving tables.
"Ah! Welcome, welcome. Potter, Granger, Byrne, Weasley, you all look great. Come and join me for a photograph." Slughorn says.
The four star students all go to stand next to the professor leaving Dean alone waiting for them.
