The trio spent the next week preparing themselves for their visit to Godric's Hollow. They had no idea of the dangers that they could encounter. It was now well into December and the days were short and dull, and much to Lorelai's dismay, it had been snowing. Hermione still thought visiting Godric's Hollow wasn't a good idea, yeah sure, the sword of Godric Gryffindor could be there, as could a Horcrux, but there could also be Death Eaters awaiting them. They could be walking into a trap and all of this would have been for nothing.Putting the last of her elixirs into her small bag, Lorelai puts on her coat, scarf, gloves and hat and joins Harry while they wait for Hermione. She was casting more advanced protective enchantments around the tent so it can be well hidden even with nobody on watch. The sun was setting so it was nearly time to go. They decided that going in the beginning of the night in a village would be safest, everybody would be at home having dinner and nobody would notice three teenagers wandering about the road.
"Ready?" Hermione asks appearing behind her friends.
"As ready as I'll ever be." Lorelai sighs. She's scared that something bad will happen.
"Maybe Ron will be there." Hermione starts. "He could have guessed that Harry wanted to go and visit Godric's Hollow and get there before us."
Her demeanor was filled with hope as she spoke and the last thing her friends wanted to do was to destroy it. Sighing, Harry and Lorelai glanced at eachother with knowing expressions before glancing at Hermione. "Don't get your hopes up, Mione." Is all Harry said before he grabbed on to each of their arms and dissaparated out of there. The trio reaches Godric's Hollow with a pop and are glad to see the street is empty just like they had hoped.
"I still think we should have used Polyjuice Potion." Hermione says.
"No." Harry defends. "This is where I was born, i'm not returning as someone else."
The church bell rings and Harry extends his arms out for Lorelai and Hermione to clasp onto as they walk down the empty road. It was windy and snowing. Chatter and singing could be heard from a distance and upon further inspection they were able to see a tavern with Christmas lights and people celebrating inside.
"I think it's Christmas Eve, listen." Lorelai says nudging her head towards the tavern, but Harry payed no attention. His focus was on the cemetery right in front of them.
"Do you think they would be in there?" He asks. "My mum and dad."
"Yeah, I think they would." Hermione answers.
Harry removes his arms from the clasp of the two girls and walks to the enterance of the cemetery. His eyes focused on the names on the gravestones. It took him a few minutes of searching before he stopped in front of a gravestone. Lorelai noticed and wrapped her arms around his arm and placed her head on his shoulders. From a distance they hear Hermione calling out to them but they pay no attention to her and she eventually walks up to them. She takes one look at Harry, sorrow written all over her face so she bends down and silently casts a flower charm creating a wreath of beautiful white roses.
