Epilogue part 1

It's been just over seven months since the war ended, since life went back to normal, or at least as normal as it could ever get. The seventh year students were given the chance to repeat their final year since not much was taught. Hermione and several other students went, Lorelai didn't nor did Draco. They wanted to be as far away from Hogwarts as possible. After the remaining Death Eaters that fled the night of the war were caught, Narcissa went back to the Malfoy Manor leaving Draco to stay with his girlfriend and her family. He was plagued with nightmares and going back to the Manor, where most of his bad memories took place, would only make the nightmares worsen.

It was a cold winter morning and Lorelai and Draco were all alone in the house, being the only ones unemployed. Lorelai was sat on a chair in the dining room munching on a biscuit with a cup of green tea in her hand as Draco went to go and fetch the mail. The past seven months consisted in this. They never really left the house much, only to go on occasional romantic dates.

"This came for you just now. It's from the Ministry." Draco says walking back into the dining room holding a letter in his hand.

Lorelai jumps up from the chair nearly spilling her cup of tea all over the table. "Do you think it could be—?"

"It has to be, why else would the Ministry send you a letter, darling." He hands her the envelope.

Lorelai has been a nervous wreck for the past month. She had submitted her near perfect grades and gone through the series of multiple character aptitude tests to see if she was mentally, physically and emotionally stable to qualify for the Auror's department. It was obvious that it would take time to evaluate everybody who was qualifying but she had no idea that it would take a month. Draco, alongside her father and brother have tried calming her down and telling her that she didn't have to worry, that she was a brilliant witch and that she'd get the job, but she couldn't help herself.

"Here goes nothing." She mutters to herself as she breaks the seal and opens the envelope. She feels a pair of strong arms wrap around her small frame and a chin resting on her shoulder, but she payed no attention to it, she was too busy reading the letter.

Her eyes nearly bulged out of her head while she read the letter. They were glued to a particular sentence right in the beginning of the letter. Congratulations Ms. Byrne, after a careful evaluation we have come to the conclusion that you would be a perfect addition to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement as an Auror. She did it. All of this time worrying for nothing. She doubts herself way too much.

"Oh my God!" Lorelai slaps her hands over her mouth letting the letter drop to the floor. Draco's hands go to her waist he turns her around.

"I knew you'd get in, I'm so proud of you, love."

Not being able to contain her excitement, she jumps up and brings her lips to his, to which he automatically responds, wrappings his arms, under her legs and hoisting her up as he deepens the kiss. Much to Lorelai's dismay, he pulls apart moments later.

"We're going out tonight." He blurts out. "We haven't gone on a date in a while, I think this is something to celebrate, so let's go out tonight. What do you think?"

"I think that's a brilliant idea, darling." She smiles.

Draco fidgeted with his suit for the tenth time in one minute. He couldn't stay still, or he was swaying around from where he was standing or he was tapping his fingers on the table. It was currently six fifty-five o'clock, the sun was already down and he was waiting for his girlfriend to finish getting ready for their date, but he was so nervous that he didn't even notice her until she was standing in front of him. His head snaps up and he looks her up and down. Flawless, he thought.
