I awoke to the smell of eggs and bacon cooking. I naturally reached down where Sparta would be curled up between my legs and my stomach, I usually sleep in a fetal position. Sure enough he was there and automatically he started up his purr engine as I rubbed his ears sleepily. "Whatever mom's cooking, it smells good." I told him. He meowed as I stopped petting him and got up.
"So, how did you sleep last night?" My mom asked.
"Pretty good." I told her.
"This is going to sound strange but I thought I heard someone thumping on my wall last night..." My mom said, then she sighed as she passed the scrambled eggs. "Perhaps I was just imagining it, this is a new house and the mind gets creative when it's in an unusual place." My mom reasoned as she poured orange juice.
"I didn't hear anything, I slept like a baby last night." I told her as I sipped my orange juice.
"Babies don't sleep the best." My mom stated.
"That's not the point, besides they sleep plenty. I also had my fearless defender in my window last night." I said as Sparta rubbed my legs and circled around and between them. He meowed and my mom tossed a piece of bacon under the small round table.
"You yell at me for spoiling him!" I told her.
"So, I'm the boss and the boss doesn't have to follow the rules." My mom said with a smile. "Now finish breakfast, we have a lot of unpacking to do." My mom said as she ate.
Three hours later me and mom flop on the couch, utterly exhausted.
