We made it to the car and Blake drove us to our room before I dared show him or tell him what I had found. "What did you find in that bathroom?" Blake finally asked when I sat down at the small table in the motel room and set my purse down on the table.
"This, snatched the key before coming back to you, haven't seen what's in it yet." I told him.
He looked at me with a raised eyebrow as I pulled out the wooden box. "Nice job." He said impressed when I took the key out.
"Yeah, now to see what is in here to have a lock on it and for our to hide it in a bathroom behind a loose brick." I said as I placed the key inside the lock and turned it. The carvings started to glow in a blue green light, Blake and I exchanged a worried look.
"Does this seem like its telling us to stop?" I Blake asked.
"No we have to see what's inside, even if it kills us..." I said with a sigh and with determination undid the latches before lifting the lid. Inside was an amulet of the same color as the eerie blue green light from the colors, it was as if some kind of energy swirled inside the amulet.
"What do you think it is?" I asked as I stared at it in facination.
"Nothing good." Blake said as he looked at me in worry as I was becoming transfixed by the amulet and the strange energy swirling in it. The color deepened and lightened, flickered and danced. The energy became brighter and dimmer and the whole time it gave a bad vibe but it was beautiful and interesting.
I slowly reached for it. Blake grabbed my wrist firmly but spoke gently. "Janice don't, there's no telling what it is or what it could do to you. Your entranced with it trust me I feel the temptation but it isn't pulling me in as it is you." Blake said.
Slowly he let go of my wrist. Blake pulled out his cellphone. "Mom, I need some help." I heard him say slowly as he held the phone to his ear, I couldn't tear my eyes away from the amulet, I fought the urge to grab it as I clenched my fist above the box. A him sounded through my skull and through my body, it started soft but slowly it grew louder.
I saw Blake from the corner of my eye grab my and before doing something on it. "Blake?" I heard our mother ask.
"I'm here, its not affecting me anymore, it seems to be getting worse for Janice though." Blake said.
"Let me see her Blake." My mom said and Blake turned the computer around. My clenched fist slowly started shaking hard before against my will. The humming in my skull and body had reached a level so high I couldn't fell anything, I couldn't even tell if I was breathing or not or if I was alive slowly my shaking hand moved towards the amulet and as soon as I touched it the humming became louder and pain blossomed inside me.
The pain started in my head and made its way down my spine and a blue green ribbon of energy filled the room before wrapping itself around me.
Blake's Point Of View
I could see Janice fighting the enchantment of the amulet, it hadn't been so strong with me it had been the faintest of things but for her it was very strong. I had video called out mother from Janice's computer and we watched as she grabbed the amulet against her will. She seemed to be in pain and slowly a blue green ribbon of light filled the room and and circled around her, I had to sheild my eyes and heard our mother gasp as Janice was lifted up by the light. Then the light exploded and I was thrust into the darkness of unconsciousness.
I reawoke slowly and when I did I saw Janice only she had changed, the computer was still on and my mother was calling out our names. "I'm here mom, was knocked out. What was that?" I asked.
"I don't know but its done something to your sister, go to her Blake." My mother said and I did.
I knelt down next to my twin sister Janice, she was still sleeping and was most likely going to stay that way. Huge black feathered wings were sprouted from her back. "Why does she have wings?" I yelled as I grabbed my hair with frustration.
The motel room door flung open and in stepped the demon from the café and I held my hand up to signal the demon to stay back but instead I felt a tingling in my hand and blue green flame shot out. The demon screetched and before I knew it the thing lay dead in the doorway. I sat there stunned before getting up quickly and disposing of the body, when I got back I sat there in shock for a while. Finally I asked the question that burned inside my mind.
"Mom your quiet, you never answered me. What's going on." I demanded of my mother, she seemed to know more than she ought to.
"Blake, theres something you need to know... Its about your father, I was hoping I never needed to tell you but I guess now I have no choice but to tell you about him..." She said and I looked at her in confusion what she said next blew everything I though I knew about myself and Janice and our family to pieces.
