More Than That - Lauren Jauregui

I suggest that you don't watch the video if you're under 13. But lmao I'm not in charge of y'all do what'chya like I guess.

I knocked on Anezka's door. She didn't answer right away but after a few more moments she swung the door open and smiled at me, her black-with-white-highlights hair gathered together at the back of her head in a ponytail. I forced a grin. I literally just wanted to collapse. I was running off three hours of sleep and it didn't feel very good.

Anezka slapped my back and we started on our way. My feet ached from not sitting but maybe a drink or two would make me feel better. I walked beside her all the way there. There were homeless people sitting in corners of alleys that glared at us as we passed by, releasing a suffocating puff of smoke.

I sucked in a shaky breath as we entered the bar. The people inside looked sketchy, like they were ready for a bar fight or getting ready to attack a poor female who can't defend herself...Oh, me.

"Actually, Anezka, I might, um...I might head back." I managed to utter.

"What the fuck? No way. You're gonna feel so welcomed. The people here look like absolute shit all the time but they're really fucking friendly. Trust me. You'll feel right at home."

I sighed but gave the place and the people a chance. We took two seats at the island and started to chat.

"So," Anezka began after ordering my drink for me, "Why did you move here?"

"Um, well I'm here to interview the..uh, the ninja."

"The ninja? Pfft! Those suckers are dead!"

"Last time I checked they were all alive and well-"

"I mean they broke up. Like a boy band. You know, like the Beatles, One Direction? You know, like that?"

"I didn't...I thought that was just a rumor."

"Well, I mean like they didn't really break up. The team is still together and they still do all the shit they used to do that made them famous. But like...they're all kinda separate. The White Ninja is a sensei and shit, the blue ninja is some comedian or something, black ninja and red ninja just completely disappeared. Like they went complete ghost-mode. Green Ninja is still trying' to keep everyone together and water ninja is by his side and all. I don't know the full story. They come together to save the city from time to time but that's it. I don't pay attention to this."

"Oh..." well there goes my dream.

I couldn't tell my boss about this otherwise I'd be taken back home and I'd either be put into some boring office job by him or I'll be working with my parents. I can't let him find out about this because he'd have absolutely no trouble taking away my dreams.

"What's the matter?"

"Hm? Oh, what? Nothing." I laughed quietly as Anezka smiled at me.

Suddenly, I heard the door swing open and a cold air swept through the warm bar. A chill swept through my spine as a hooded man came into view. He had a strong build but looked no older than 20 from what I could make out under the hood.

I gripped the counter tightly, looking for some kind of stability in this new place. I froze as his eyes swept over everyone, stopping and lingering for a second longer on me. He made a low growl before taking a seat at the farthest corner, away from everyone else.

"Anezka?" I trembled. She nodded in response. "Um, maybe this wasn't the greatest night to come out. We should get back, anyways. It's a bit late."

Anezka shook her head. "As I said, everyone here looks like a crackhead but these people are nice. Don't worry about it. They won't attack you unless you start a fight."

"What a minute...attack? So there's been like...bar fights and everything?"

"What'd you expect, Y/n? A peaceful bar? No such thing in all of Ninjago city."

I shuddered. "No...I'm leaving. Sorry, Anezka. I'm just not comfortable around these people. We should come back some other time. I really just want to settle down right now. I'm gonna head to the bathroom and then I'm outta here."

Anezka just rolled her eyes. "Fine, you're the newbie s I have to do as you say and stuff."

I groaned at her ignorance. There's ought to be at least one person in here who is either a murderer, rapist or some sad old fellow who does stupid things and tries to sell drugs to innocent people like us...If Anezka was really that innocent.

"I'll wait here." She said, finishing up her drink. I nodded and made my way to the bathrooms.

I waited in line for a good five minutes and then entered a stall, did my business and continued on my way. I looked in the mirror. My mom had always said that she was glad to have such a beautiful kid but she was also scared for me because of that fact. I never understood why until I learned what rape was.

From the moment I knew that there were those kinds of people out there, I never wanted to go anywhere sketchy. Never.

I made my way out of the bathroom, my hands still a bit wet from not drying them properly. When I exited completely, I couldn't find Anezka anywhere.

She had probably left. That bitch. I can't believe she left me! I groaned in annoyance. I wasn't even sure I knew how to get back to my apartment! I could call for a cab, but that means I'd either have to wait outside in the cold with the homeless people or inside here with the creeps.

I glanced behind me at the drugged up men and sighed. I wasn't-

A hand landed on my shoulder.

"Where d'ya think you're goin'?"

I gasped as the husky voice filled my ears, sending chills down my spine. The man flipped me around and looked into my eyes. I was trembling now; shaking so bad that I was my own mini earthquake.

This wasn't happening.

Maybe if it just repeated that over and over again it would all be a dream and I would wake up and realize that it was a new day and I could interview the Ninja and get my job done.

But it wasn't. It wasn't going to be a dream because this was so real. The more real thing in the entire world. I couldn't help but wonder if this was gonna be when I die or not. Maybe it was. I'm not sure, but I like to see where fate takes me. I shut my eyes.

The man started to breathe heavily, knuckles cracking and-

"Get away from her."

I opened one eye and peeked at who had said that. The hooded man. It was that dude.

Aw man, now I'm in deeper shit.

"You want a fight?" The man released his grip on my shoulder and put his hands up, grinning, his yellow teeth glinting under the dim lights. The hooded man cracked his neck, obviously prepared to take a hit or two.

"Let's go," The hooded one said.

The first man charged at the other, swinging his fist but missing clumsily. The hooded man shot his foot out, hitting the other guy in his stomach and watching him fall to the ground.

I gasped as his hood fell off his head, revealing a head full of messy brown hair and olive skin.

"Kai Smith?" I gasped out.

He looked my way, standing over the man. "At your service, pretty lady."
