⚠️TRIGGER WARNING⚠️

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, KIND AND WONDERFUL, NEVER FEEL THE NEED TO KILL YOURSELF. REMEMBER THAT THIS IS FICTION.

My stomach flipped as I finished the intro, my cheeks burning bright red. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my heart. It would all be over in an hour or so. An hour and a half at the most.

I caught a few people shuffling in the corner of my eye. The Ninja were here.

I heard one of the directors clear their throat as they stared me down.

"Oh! Yes, of course." I smiled. "And here are the wonderful Ninja you've all been waiting for."

The Ninja wandered onto the set and sat down on the couch. I grinned, and I hated myself for looking for Kai. He wasn't here, though. I had no idea where he was. I stole another quick glance at the places off stage but I couldn't spot him. I began to wonder if he was here at all.

Before the cameramen and director had another chance to give me the stink eye, I began the interview. "Hello Ninja." Shit. "Busy day today?"

They nodded and gave me a stage laugh. Nya leaned forwards. "Yeah. Yeah, quite the day. Although it's pretty fun!"

The other Ninja nodded and grinned in agreement. Gosh, this is what I had to sit through? These fake-ass laughs?

"So," I said, crossing my legs and bringing their attention back on to me. "To start us off, what made you all want to be ninja in the first place? Or is it just because it's a job that's hard to get rid of?"

Jay shrugged, getting ready to answer the question. "I think that at first, we all thought it was just some joke or we felt burdened with the job, but now I think we all have the best time out there fighting crime. It's actually quite fun."

I snickered. "Fun? Could you...elaborate? I fail to see how fighting crime might be fun." I sound like a nindroid, gosh.

Cole laughed at this, and Jay frowned in his direction. "Well," Jay began, "I won't say it's bonding time for all of us, but I think we were all thrill seekers and fighting crime is what we do for a living, so it's gotta be fun at some point."

I nodded. "Quite a good point. Now, I was wondering, where is the Red Ninja? He's not here."

Zane glanced around. "I'm not sure. I remember him telling us he had to finish something." Zane shrugged and looked around the room once more before returning his gaze towards me. Ooohhh, here's some tea I could gather for work.

I tilted my head to the side, seeing my chance to get something good out of this interview. "And what might that be?" I asked as casual as I could.

"I'm not quite sure."

I waved a hand at a few of the people standing around doing nothing, dismissing them to look for Kai. "I'll send out some people to look for him."

I smiled as I watched them exit and make their way up the stairs. "Anyway, back to you guys. Nya and Jay, many people out there have seen what a healthy relationship you two have had for more than just a few years! Tell me," I giggled, "what's the secret?"

Jay and Nya exchanged glances before their eyes landed on me again. "Well," Jay began, "I don't really think it's a secret. It just matters if two people are willing to make it work out and not get angry over everything. You know, the typical things they say in movies. Romantic love eventually turns into committed love."

I grinned widely. A genuine grin. "That's so sweet! I'm willing to bet so many people out there are wanting a relationship like yours."

Nya and Jay smiled proudly, kissing each other quickly before shyly looking down at their feet.

"So, Cole and Lloyd. You two haven't spoken much, so I have a question for you two." Cole looked up, seeming unahppy about having to talk at all.

I turned towards him. "Cole. You were leader before Lloyd came along, then once Lloyd became the Green Ninja he gradually took over. What are your feelings towards that?"

"My feelings? Doesn't matter."

What.

"Um...could you...elaborate?"

"Elaborate my ass-"

"Y/n! We found Kai!"

"Cool. Where is he?"

"He's about to jump off the building!"

Gasps and quiet murmurs went through the room. "What!?" I snapped, jumping to my feet like the rest of the Ninja. "Did you call security?"

The camerman stood there, his jaw open.

"Did you even try to stop him from jumping?" I tapped my foot.

The camerman didn't reply.

I slapped my face. "You idiot." I kicked my heels off and grabbed them with my right hand and raced to the exit on the roof just in time to see Kai take a step outwards closer to the ledge.

"Kai!" I yelled out. "What're you doing!?"

Kai turned his head, his gentle, tear-filled amber eyes landing on me. "I can't do this anymore."

I watched as Kai let a tear slip out of his eye. He turned back. "Am I even doing this right?" He yelled at me.

"Doing what right?"

"This whole life thing."

I sighed, running towards him, gravel and concrete scratching the bottoms of my feet. It only made Kai move closer.

"Kai! Kai, listen to me. I know you feel like killing yourself is the only option but I can help! There are people out there who want to  help you! Please, just take my hand and we can work through this."

I reached out to him. "Kai, please."

"I'm sorry," he sighed out. Kai's feet were at the edge. I notcied he wasn't wearing any shoes. His toes curled around the edge, and I gasped as he let himself slip off the corner of the building.

"KAI! NO!" Everything happened so quickly but yet it was still the longest few moments of my entire life. I threw my shoes onto the ground and raced towards him, not caring that the gravel was digging into my feet. Why was I so scared to lose him?

I lunged for him, nearly throwing myself over the building with him. "Kai!"

I closed my eyes, not wanting to see any blood; not wanting to see anything at all.

I felt something warm in my hand, something tense. Like it was scared. I opened one eye, then both. It was Kai. I had caught him.

Sighing with relief, I held onto him tightly as the Ninja ran to assist us. They helped me pull him up. I dragged him into my lap, panting and brushing my fingers through his hair, soothing him.

"Never do that again Kai. Ever." I hugged him tightly into my chest.

I felt him look up at me. "Y/n?"

"Yes?"

"Can I still take you up on that offer?" He asked, his voice shaking.

"What?"

"Coffee?"
