Weak When Ur Around - Black Bear

My eyes fluttered open. I looked around. Sunlight was bleeding through the brown curtains, birds tweeting softly outside. I looked back to my pillow - or Kai's chest. Jumping silently, my head jutted up from his chest, and I sat straight. That's when the pain hit me.

A cramp on my left leg started to form, starting at my calf and stopping halfway up the back of my thigh. I started breathing heavily as I worked it out from underneath my butt, trying to straighten out my leg. It wouldn't rest flat on the floor, so I stretched it out as best as I could. I had been sitting on my legs for hours.

I sighed in relief as the cramp began to recede, massaging my calf and thigh.

I glanced back towards Kai. He looked so peaceful when he slept. His jaw was relaxed, his eyebrows weren't furrowed for once. He seemed so soft. His lips were slightly parted and looked softer then they were yesterday. They also looked so, so kissable...

"Y/n?"

It took me a moment to realize I was leaning in a bit. I jumped back, brushing my finger behind my ear. "S-sorry. What?"

"You were really close to my face," he said, his voice hoarse.

"I was just...trying to check your temperature." My cheeks started heating up. "I'm gonna go get you some water." I stood, starting on my way to the kitchen when he grabbed my hand.

"You're cute when you sleep, dumbass."

"Dumbass? Excuse - and did you just call me cute?"

"I speak the truth."

"The dumbass part is not true! I'm...smart."

"You are smart. For a dumbass."

I yanked my hand away. "Shut up. I'm not a dumbass."

"Exactly. You're my dumbass." He smirked, sitting up, resting on his elbows.

"NO, I am not."

"This is exactly why you're a dumbass. Just accept it."

"Whatever." I waved off his comment with a hand and made my way to the kitchen, filling a cup with cool water. "How are you feeling?" I stated, bringing the cup back to him, sitting down on the coffee table.

He took the cup, tipping it to his mouth and downing it in two gulps. "Much better, thanks to you."

I blushed. "You're welcome." I took the empty glass from him and set it down on the coffee table beside me.

Leaning forwards, I pressed the back of my hand to his forehead. "You still have a bit of a fever, but you should be fine by tomorrow if you just rest today."

I took the cloths that I had put on him and wet them again. "This is going to be cold." I set one down on his stomach and the other on his forehead again.

He winced, inhaling sharply. "That's freaking cold."

I laughed. "Told you."

Laughing while wincing, Kai took my hand again. "Thank you, Y/n. I really...Appreciate this."

"Of course," I pursed my lips. "I'm supposed to take care of my boyfriend, right?"

Kai flushed red as soon as I said this. Did I just...fluster him? He looked down, amber eyes glistening with a hint of mischief.

"Boyfriend for a week," I laughed. We sat in silence before smiled at him again. "I'll call in sick today so I can take care of you, okay?"

Kai's eyes lit up. "Really?"

I nodded.

"Alright." He readjusted himself on the couch.

It took me a flustered moment to realize I had been staring at him for a while. I sprang up like a loose spring and snatched my phone from the kitchen counter. What was this feeling? Why did I feel like I all of a sudden needed his attention? Was I nervous around him? Did I...?

No, you don't. You don't have feelings for him. You may be 'dating' for a week, but that's not enough time to starting catching feelings.

My hands raced to call my boss, shaking slightly. Why the hell was I shaking? My heart started to speed up. Why? Why?

I glanced over at Kai through the corner of my eye. When I looked at him, my heart seemed to skip a beat. I took a deep breath as the call went to voicemail.

"Hi, it's Y/n." I faked a little sniffle. "I'm just calling in you tell you I won't be at work today. I'm not feeling too well. I hope that's alright. Thanks."

"Um, Kai?" He looked at me. "I'm just going to get ready. I'll be quick."

He grinned. Whipping my head around, I started speed-walking towards my bedroom, passing by everything else in a fuzzy blur. His smile seemed to stab me through my heart, and when it did, it left a rush of excitement pulsing through my veins.

I had to keep convincing myself it wasn't a crush while I was getting ready. Maybe I just cared about him more because of what happened. He protected me without a second thought.

As I made my way back, I saw that Kai hadn't moved one bit. It looked as if he had just lied there, waiting for me to come back. I nodded at him, smiling. Now I had no idea what I was supposed to say. What was I supposed to do? How was I supposed to act when I liked him so much?

I caught myself there. ONE DAY. ONE DAY WITH HIM AND YOU CAUGHT FEELINGS. YOU DUMBASS.

I sat back down beside the couch and leaned on my elbow. My arm was resting by his stomach, facing away from him so I wouldn't let myself get unnerved. So I could let myself think properly. I closed my eyes, breathing softly.

Just as I felt my mind stop racing, just as I felt myself finally calm down, I felt Kai's hand on the back of my head, scratching the top of it like I was some cute puppy. Usually, I would have shoved his hand off and gotten up to do something else, but instead, I readjusted myself so I was resting on his stomach again, and I let him.
