Ever since I was a young girl,
I was shown love to be nothing
But a waste of feeling.
I saw love as anger, as disgust,
As something that isn't truly there.
And from that, I was a lost girl.
I tried to find "love" in those
I thought would reciprocate.
Every time I looked, I found nothing.
And then, there was you.
I thought of you
As another potential person
To keep, to hold, to love.
I pray that the universe will be kind
To me and to you as we grow.
And if there is a chance for us,
Let's take it.
Let's see what we're all about.
