Once upon a time, it was said:
"I need you to need me back."Need.
Her words came in vain,
Watching the boy she felt she loved
Push her away and lie,
Cheat and break her heart.
And seeing the struggle hit me
With the force a truck would.
And in her words, I found what
I desired and longed for.Need.
I need to be needed.
I yearned to be needed by someone,
Anyone.
It's so easy for someone to say that
They want to be needed.
That they just want someone who
Won't turn and walk out.
But before you know it,
They'll find someone new
And rinse and repeat.Need.
And as much I need
To be needed,
There's always this worry,
Overthinking I
Overindulge in,
That being needed,
Or wanting to be needed
In order to keep going
Is, and will always be, selfish.
And from there, what I feel
I need
Is locked away for good,
Never to be expressed
At the expense
Of people thinking that
I'm more righteous
Than I think I am.Need.
To those who feel it too,
And to the ones who are giving it,
Tell me
How good it feels to be needed.
