There are times I've lied down
And pretended I was in your arms.
My head would be against your chest
And I would listen to your heartbeat.
When I'm there, I feel safe.
I feel whole and happy in that state,
Snuggling into the skin of the pillow
And believing you're there.
When I wake up, I don't recall
The feeling as much, the dream
Of holding you and being with you.
But it always comes back every night
I go to bed, when I wish for you there
As much as I wish for you now.
