Adrenaline and momentum
Aren't enough to keep me away
From the world crushing my chest.
Moments both big and small
Can give me euphoric joy,
A chance to have my heart race
Before everything else sinks
Back into my being. It always comes to me
When the party's over
And the joy I once had
Is replaced with doubt and dread.
All the happiness and freedom
Felt in snapshots of excitement
Are stripped away for me to
Carry the baggage of my mind
On my back. When the party's on,
I feel different: new, warm and bright.
When the party's over,
I end up becoming myself again.
