Disclaimer: I have nothing against K-Pop. I'm just saying my opinions and if you wanna rebutt my opinions, fair enough.
Also, I wanted to do this on my rant book, but then I realized I deleted said book for reasons.
Anyway, let me begin.
The reason why I think J-Pop is superior to K-Pop is because K-Pop tries too hard.
If you don't get what I mean, I meant that they try too hard in an attempt to satisfy the western demographic, where most of the time, it works.
Meanwhile, J-Pop don't give two shits on their demographic at all.
My second point.
K-Pop is like that virus that made dogs go cuckoo.
I'm not saying K-Pop fans are dogs.
Once it infects someone, instantaneously, they become rabid dogs.
As in, them K-Pop fans go crazy over them, and call their bias.
Till this day, I wonder why K-Pop fans call them 'bias', when literally, bias is bad in a way.
Meanwhile, J-Pop is more conservative with their fans, since most of the time, their songs don't require too much depth to understand.
Also, waifus and husbandos.
Ain't that sound better than bias?
Third point.
K-Pop has no true depth in their songs.
I don't care if BTS had two albums with their songs turning out to be connected. Where's the depth of each song? Most of the time, they're in your face and you are able to understand what you'll be listening.
J-Pop goes for the extra mile to be mysterious, yet poetic and wonderful.
J-Pop has a wider range of emotion, depth and sense of relatability. They are also capable of subverting your expectation.
You may think this song is actually a love song because of the happy tone, but oh no no no.
Turns out to be a yandere song.
I'm looking at you, MAYU.
In a sense, J-Pop is also capable of expressing emotion in their own songs. You can feel their dissapointment in their voice, their purpose fluctuation in voice, etc.
Fourth reason.
K-Pop is overrated.
Give J-Pop a chance please.
Honestly, there's a lot more I can list, but because it's 2:25 AM here, I need to stop and get some sleep.
