The next morning, I wake up earlier than my alarm clock. I stretch out my limbs and the feeling is amazing. For some reason, I'm feeling better today, better than I have ever done. I guess it's because now, my mother isn't around to break my dad's heart anymore. But then my mood dulls knowing she's gone. I won't have my mother with me and it hurts. It's like I'm made for such pain and heartache.
I get up and walk to the bathroom. After showering and brushing my teeth, I walk back to my room and decide on what to wear for today.
I decide on a simple oversized beige vans tee shirt (my brothers) and my black ripped jeans and put on my beige vans. Now, what shall I do with my hair? I wonder. I shrug and decide to just put it in a messy bun above my head. Walking make up free downstairs after grabbing my ruck sack, I stop mid way in the kitchen.
"Oh, hey little sis. Why are you up early?" Leith asks me.
"I don't know. I just woke up and wasn't feeling tired anymore. What about you?" I ask him while taking a seat on the stool.
"I have an early start today at work. Want some French toast?" I vigorously nod my head while licking my lips. Leith's French toast is to die for. I have it with Nutella and it is like heaven in my mouth. "Let me guess, with a side of Nutella?" He smirks my way and I smile.
"You know it bro" I cheerfully reply back. Silence is all that's heard and I decide to ask him about mum. "So, er, you heard what happened to mum?" I ask him and he nods his head.
"I think it was the best decision she had made to be honest. But, I was pissed off because of how she just decided to leave. As if we aren't important you know?" I nod my head but soon realising that he can't see me.
"Y-Yeah, totally get you" he stops and turns around to face me.
"You don't seem bothered by her leaving, at all. Why?" He eyes me suspiciously. I sigh bowing my head. I fiddle with my fingers. Just then, Leith sits next to me and tilts my head up with his fingers. "Talk to me Lythey" I feel my eyes watering.
"It was my fault" I whisper out. My voice shaking. He looks at me confused.
"What was?" He asks me. One thing about our relationship is that I can never manage to lie to him. It's just not in my blood. We made an oath that we never lie to one another, and I can't go against that oath now.
"Mum leaving, I forced her" I tell him as a tear slides down my cheeks. What surprises me is the fact that he starts laughing. "Why are you laughing?" I ask him confused.
"You? Forcing mum to leave? What did you say, threaten to glue her legs shut?" He carries on laughing. I'm still baffled as before.
"But, I did. I came home and saw her with a guy in dad's room. They were fully naked. His name is Preston, he looked young enough to be her son. I think he was your age to be honest." I tell him on what happened last night. I cringe as the image pops up in my head.
"So you're telling me, that all it took for her to leave was for you, her 18 year old daughter, to just shout at her?" He asks me humorously. If you think about it, that does sound rather obnoxious. I sigh and ponder on what he said.
"I guess it does sound weird and funny."
"Yeah, and that's because it is. Listen, she left because she obviously wanted to leave. She just needed to be told to so she's not to blame when she does leave. She won't listen to you. If she doesn't listen to dad or me, then why you?" He's right. So, all this time, I've been feeling like shit for forcing her to leave, when she did it on her own accord. Wow, mother of the year award goes to... Susana fricking Blake! What an ass.
