"What are you doing here?" I ask the rancid woman before me. She sighs and bows her head.
"I-i need to talk to you father, if that's possible" she answers back and I resist the urge to slap her across her fake face.
"No" I reply back sternly. She looks up and scolds me.
"Now" She orders me.
"Well, It's not a convenient time right now. So maybe come back in, hmmm, how about NEVER" I reply back bluntly. She rolls her eyes and gently shoves me to the side and saunters in.
"I don't have time for this Blythe" I scoff and shut the front door. I follow her as she makes her way to the dining room as laughter could be heard. It was silent a minute ago. Maybe they wanted me out of the way? I roll my eyes at my hilarious thought.
"And then I-"
"Tried to stop her, but she wouldn't budge" I interrupted Fredrick's rant when all pair of eyes face my way. My dad stands up with a look of horror on his face. He gulps.
"Sue" the look of shock is plastered on Leith's face whereas, mine is just a bored expression.
"Hi Richard" My silly excuse of a mother replies back.
"What is she doing here?" Leith asks rudely. I shrug and lean on one leg folding my arms.
"I would like to know the answer to that too" I say, breaking through the silence.
"Richard, I must talk to you" dad shakes his head and I can see tears about to spill. I sigh and stand in front of her.
"Get out. You're not wanted here" I say to her with my fists clenched. She glares at me and shoves me to the side but I don't budge.
"Move out of my way child" I angrily stare back at her, my nose flaring and my eyes squinted.
"Make. Me" I slowly reply back. She looks around and stands alert.
"What's this, a dinner party, without your mother?" She asks no one in particular and I let out a humorous laugh.
"Mother!, I don't think so. You are no mother to me or to Leith"
"Blythe, not now" my brother tries to stop me but I ignore him.
"Leith, can in fact speak for himself. He is my son" I scoff and step back.
"So what am I?" I ask her, wanting to hear the answer.
"No one. You're not even my daughter!" it's like a jab to my heart. I feel the whole world stop and my breathing too stopped. "You, are a bastard child, conceived during an affaire" She sneers at me and I feel tears threatening to fall. I hear gasps but I drown them out.
"You're lying" I tell her. Her face immediately turn into... regret? Her eyes soften at my expression and places a hand on my arm. I shrug her off and step back. A look of hurt flashes in her eyes. She shakes her head and I see what looks to be tears staining her eyes. "Are you lying?" I ask her. She sighs and bows her head.
"Unfortunately not child, you're not my daughter- biologically. But I see you as my own " I feel my heart being clenched from her words.
"It doesn't matter what you see me as" I mutter.
"It does to me" she replies back sternly. I shake my head, trying to get my head around it. It can't be true. Could it?
"It's not true" I whisper to myself, trying to convince. I turn to my dad and Leith. "It's not true" I reply louder. "Is it?" I ask defeated. I know the answer, but I just want to hear it from the men I trust with my life. Leith hangs his head low and my father looks at me guiltily. I gasp and let out a shaky breath. "It is" I confirm. I shake my head.
