This place has no code. There is nothing here, so there is nothing for me to destroy. Maybe that's why I live here. But then again I don't remember living anywhere else...
"How did we get here Ink?" I say with concerned anger. This place should have been the last place on his mind to go, let alone IN his mind. "Like I said, I imagined where I wanted to go and poof we are here!" He says directing his attention towards me. It creeps me out to be arguing with myself and I can't help but punch the bridge of my nose.
"How do you even know if this place?" I say waving a hand around, "You shouldn't even know it exists." I accidentally slip out. That seems to peak Ink's interest. He redirects the conversation from defending himself, to getting answers out of me.
"Why shouldn't I know that this place exists?" He pries. I don't want to answer and my newly found defense mechanism comes into play-slouching. I don't respond, but he continues on. "It's not like your hiding anything, are you, Error?" I asks curiously. I just become more annoyed. The feeling starts to crawl it's way through my body and I try my best to just not say anything. But of course nothing is going right today.
"I'm not the one hiding secrets. Especially important ones like, how you know the Anti-Void exists." I point out. And before I can register what I said, he shows a look of fear on his face. Soon mine reflects it. I messed up, big time. But why he would be the scared one here? I literally just revealed the secret location of where I hide, FROM HIM!
It was a few seconds of silence before he responds. "We can't stay here." Now I am scared and confused. "Why's that?" I comment back. I don't have reasons to be afraid of this place, only the person who's visiting. "What proof do you have that this place is dangerous?"
"What proof do you have that it isn't dangerous?" He replies sharply. His fear may be more than mine, but he's not the one wringing his hands again. It's either I tell the truth and have the chance of him returning the honesty. Or...I don't say anything, and I can always force the truth out of him.
But wait, he's in my body. A headache starts to form behind my eyes. I don't want to do this. I have never wanted to do this. He, but when did I ever have a choice. My mind is heavy with making the decision. But when I saw the white boney hands when I woke up, I knew that I would eventually have to make this decision....
To tell the truth.
"I live here." I say quietly. I am a bit nervous for his response and I guess I was rightly so. "wHaT?!" He exclaims...loudly. Wow, I don't think I've ever heard my voice get that loud. A few error signs pop up. "How can you live in a place like this?" He says gesturing towards the white nothingness.
I never thought Ink would be quick to judge, but then again I haven't had time to get some decor. Or any furniture for that matter, that's my bad. "Not all of us need the fancy decorations in their home." I reply. Ink just makes an irritated laugh, twisted with disbelief.
"Now how did we get here?" I finally say. Enough beating around the bush. No more filler conversation, I want answers. No, I need answers. The role reversal comes into play and now he's the one that doesn't want to respond. But my serious stare makes him fess up.
"I had a dream about this place, after we...swapped." He said with a hint of embarrassment. Really, a dream? Like that's going to cut it. "Well if it was after, then maybe it could help us figure out what happened?" I suggest. He gives me the, 'are you serious?' look. "Come on it's the best shot we have right now." I reason.
He thinks about it for a moment, but gives a defeated response, "Okay. But only if you tell me more about this place, and how you got here." He says. I can accept a compromise. Answers for answers. He holds out his hand. And after a moment of hesitation, I take it. "Truce?" He offers. Uncertainty makes me lift my hand up. Knowing what may ensue, makes it open from its clenched fist. Not knowing what happened results in accepting a handshake from my enemy. "Truce."
