where did you come from
what constellation crafted your name
what nebula formed your remarkable soul
what form of accretion was strong enough to pull you into

what star did you fall out of
how did earth beg for you-

so i know how to hold your galaxy
in my palms and lips
without imprisoning you

and open desert
valleys and hidden earth-
i, who climbed from volcanoes
and dark deep-sea trenches
i, who dream of desert scapes
and distant planets-
tell me how to hold you
