someday soon i won't see sunlight and
think of you
i'll pass sunflower fields
and remember i thought them beautiful
before i knew you
or saw sunflower petals
in the hazel of your eyes
i'll be able to hear the sad songs
we listened to and not feel
them suddenly applying to
us
i will go to the river and not
pick out stones to match your
eyes and hair
someday soon you'll be just a friend to me
or maybe something less
someday soon you may be just a memory
from a color-lit place
and i will be okay
with thati am waiting
