my girl, with the sunflower eyes
dimpled cheeks
and curls running wild
(like my stomach when you smile)
my girl, who covers her eyes when she laughs
who moves slender fingers to the music's beat
because she is living melody
my girl, with the wounded soul
the weighted mind
the heavy, hopeless heart
my girl, looking for life in dead places
my sunflower and river stone girl,
i feel you everywhere
i feel you recklessly alive inside of me
so real and colorful
i am terrified of the black you'll bury in me
if you fade
my girl, looking for death in loving spaces
who makes me want to be a better man-
stay awhile longer
