"What do you mean? You have to!" Rae scolded her a little.

"I'm not going home, and you can't make me!" Elissa yelled at him, as another tear came sliding down her cheek.

Rae was taken aback by this sudden outburst. "I-I'm sorry, Elissa. I didn't mean to make you mad. Why don't you want to go back home?"

It's...none of your business," Elissa almost whispered. She got up, grabbed her backpack that she had slung down on top of the bed, and started to go out the door.

"Wait! Elissa, please dont go! You said that you were going to tell me your story, and I was going to help you out! Please don't leave just yet," Rae pleaded.

Elissa had her hand on the doorknob, and was about to open up the door and leave, but she stopped. "Elissa, what are doing? You have to get out of here before your dad comes for you!" Elissa yelled at herself in the back of her mind. She turned her attention towards Rae. "Why do you care so much?"

"I just want to help you out."

"But you hardly know me!" Elissa was practically arguing with him.

"So what? I don't have to know you well, just be your friend," Rae shrugged.

"Do you just feel sorry for me or something? Just because I have no friends, and no real life?!" Elissa was almost screaming.

"N-no! That's not what I meant! I don't feel sorry for you!" Rae was a little taken aback from her sudden outburst again.

"Why don't you just admit it?! You're just like everyone else who's ever tried to talk to me!"

"Elissa, I'm not like everyone else," Rae tried to convince her. "Why did you say tried? Have you never talked back to them or something?" Rae was a little worried about what all had gone on in her life that she was trying to hide from everyone else.

"Actually, I've never talked back to anyone who has tried to help me out before. I-I'm sorry for yelling at you, Rae," Elissa sighed, calming down. "It's just that I'm getting tired of people acting like they care, when they really don't. It's just because they feel sorry for me."

"So that would make me special, right?" Rae said, smiling.

"Special? How?" Elissa asked.

"Because you said that you've never talked to anyone who's tried to help you out before, and you're talking to me, which makes me the first one. So would that make me special?" Rae joked.

Elissa laughed a little, and said, "Yeah, I guess you're right."

"So why did you decide to talk to me?" Rae asked.

"You're the one who came and sat with me during lunch, remember?" Elissa reminded him.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that," Rae laughed.

"So," Elissa started, but never said anything else after that.

"So what?" Rae asked her.

"Do you want to...hear my story, now?" Elissa said, wincing a little.

"Only if you want to tell it to me," Rae said.

"Okay, I will," Elissa said.

"You sure?" Rae asked.

"Yeah..." Elissa took a deep breath in. "I'll tell you, but you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone."

"Okay, you have my promise. But why do you not want me to tell anyone?" Rae was a little confused.

"Because..." Elissa trailed off. "...of some of the things in this story. I'm afraid it might make even more people hate me." Elissa looked down at her feet, and started moving around a little, almost like she was nervous.

"Why would anyone hate you? Who hates you now?" Rae asked.

"M-my dad..." Elissa mumbled.

"Wh..." Rae started, but then stopped, and said, "Is that part of your story?"

Elissa nodded her head, answering him.

"Okay, then if you want, go ahead and start," Rae said, looking at her in an 'I'm here for you' kind of way.

Elissa started, "Okay...well, my story starts when I was born, on December 2, 1990..."
