Rae was sitting at the edge of his bed, and he looked like he was furious. "Elissa, I..." Rae stopped. He wasn't exactly sure what he was going to say to her.
Elissa smiled, and she said, "It's all right, Rae. I'm gone from my dad now and forever. There's nothing he's going to do to me ever again. I'm never going back there. Now you know why."
"Yeah, I'm sorry...I was going to make you go back home before I found out about anything that had happened. You're never going to see him again, as long as you know me. If he ever tries to come anywhere near you, you can bet that Im going to kick his ass..." Rae promised.
Elissa smiled. "Rae..." she started, but never finished.
"What is it?" Rae asked.
"You're...so sweet...and probably the nicest person I'll ever know. I just wanted to tell you...uh, that..." Elissa finished kind of sounding like she was hiding something at the end, or like she wanted to tell Rae something else, but decided not to.
"What were you going to say?" Rae asked her.
"It's nothing, really," Elissa denied.
"Come on, you can tell me," Rae smiled. "After all, it is about me, isn't it?"
"Yeah...but really it's nothing," Elissa said, rubbing the back of her head.
"I'll find out sooner or later, Rae smiled.
"Maybe, maybe not," Elissa smiled back.
Rae gave her a playful shove, and then quickly grabbed her arm, just to make sure she didn't fall off of the bed.
Elissa almost fell, but laughed the whole time. "Thanks," Elissa giggled out.
Rae smiled over towards her, and just sat there looking at her for a while until she gained control over laughter. "You really should laugh more. You're cuter that way," Rae smiled.
Elissa blushed a little, and said, "I'm cuter that way, huh? So, what's that supposed to mean?" She looked slyly over to him.
"Why are you looking at me that way?" Rae said, shifting uneasily. "It wasn't supposed to mean that to be an insult or anything!"
Elissa smiled, and stood up. "I didn't take it as an insult. I took it as a compliment. A very nice compliment," Elissa said, looking down at him. She started walking away from him.
"Where are you going?" Rae asked her with a confused ring to his tone.
"I'm not leaving, if that's what youre asking," Elissa explained to him.
"I still want to know where you're going," Rae smiled.
"I'm just...going to the bathroom," Elissa said, smiling back towards him.
"Oh, okay. Well, I'll be here," Rae said, laughing.
"Okay," Elissa said, going out of his door.
"She sure does have to go to the bathroom a lot, doesn't she?" Rae sighed.
Elissa went down the stairs, and started looking around, spotting Rae's mom sitting in the Living Room, reading a book. Elissa looked up at Rae's rooms door, and, seeing Rae wasn't looking out of the door to check on her, went into the Living Room.
"Why, hello, Elissa!" Rae's mom said, looking up from her book as Elissa walked into the Living Room.
"Hi, Mrs....Irving!" Elissa said, remembering her last name.
Rae's mom took off her reading glasses, placed them on top of her head, and placed her bookmark in her book. "Did you need something, dear?" she asked her, placing her book on the little table next to the couch she was sitting on.
A few minutes later, Elissa headed back up to Rae's room, and opened the door with a smile on her face.
"All better?" Rae asked.
"Oh! Uh...yeah!" Elissa nodded.
"Okay," Rae said, looking at her oddly.
"What is it?" Elissa said with wider eyes. "Is something wrong?"
"You're just acting...different," he answered.
"Oh, uh...I am?" Elissa asked.
"Yeah. What all happened while you were going to the bathroom?" he asked.
"Nothing happened!" Elissa said being jumpy.
"Are you sure?" Rae said, looking at her weirdly.
"I'm sure!" Elissa jumped again.
"Okay, if you say so..." Rae sighed.
"Don't worry about it, okay?" Elissa smiled. "I'm fine."
"All right," Rae smiled.
"Okay, you two! It's probably around time for you to show Elissa where she's going to be staying for the night, right Rae?" Mrs. Irving said, coming in his room.
"Oh yeah, Elissa, follow me," Rae instructed. "All you have to do is, coming up the stairs, turn right, like you would be heading towards my room, but go straight down the hall. The room at the end of the hall is the one you are going to be staying in." He pointed at the room. "Want me to show you the way to the bathroom, just in case you decide to get up in the middle of the night?"
"Sure," Elissa nodded.
"Okay," Rae said as he led her towards her room. He opened the room, and turned on the light switch that was next to the door as you came in. The room was really tidy, and organized. Except for a little area where there were some dirty clothes on the floor. "You can put your things in my brothers closet, which is right over here," Rae said, showing her where the closet was.
"Are you sure it's all right I stay in your brother's room?" Elissa asked, looking around at everything.
"Yeah, it's fine. Unless you want my other brother's room where everything is pitch-black, and full of heavy metal posters, and where everythings even messier than mine," Rae offered.
"On second thought, I think I'll be just fine with this room," Elissa smiled. She couldn't stand things being so messy you couldn't even walk through it. And if Rae's other brother's room was messier than Rae's, where there was almost no room to walk all ready, then she didn't even want to see what his other brother's room looked like.
