Elissa looked up at Rae, and with wide eyes, shakily stood up. "R-Rae, what are you doing here?!"
"Don't worry about it! Just get your ass out of here!" Rae furiously yelled.
Elissa stood there for a moment, staring at Rae who was trying to make Elissa's dad pass out. "No...no...! I'm not going to leave you here with my dad! I dont want you t--..."
"It sure is funny how you left me when you left my house, so get out of here!" Rae yelled, still furious.
Elissa stood in shock, and then slowly started heading for the door.
"You little bastard..." Elissa's dad whispered with what breathe he had left, as he reached his hand up that had the belt with a huge metal belt buckle on it, and repeatedly hit Rae's back and head with it.
Rae just hung on, taking the pain until this huge monster passed out. "Damn it! Pass out all ready!"
Finally the dad started gasping for breath as he quit hitting Rae. The belt dropped from his hand, and he fell to his knees, still gaping to receive the breath he needed to survive. He dropped down to the floor, and his face was fully purple. His pupils kept dilating, and he finally quit putting up a fight.
Rae slowly let go of his neck, and he watched as the color started slowly coming back into his face, but him never moving. He ran out of the room, and through the house, trying to make his way out of the front door. He finally found the entrance to the house, and he ran, flung the door open, and raced out. He saw Elissa standing in the front yard, hiding behind a tree so her father wouldn't see her in case he had come out. "Elissa, run!" Rae demanded.
She looked at him with wide eyes and a smile across her face. She waited for him to reach the tree, and she ran alongside him. "I...can't believe you actually came to save me..." Elissa said.
"I said...I'd always be...there, right?" Rae asked in long, deep breaths.
Tears of happiness started forming in her eyes, and she nodded her head. "Yeah...you did...but I didn't think you would attack my dad like that..."
Rae started slowing down as they reached his neighbor's yard, and when he was about to reach his yard, he fell to the ground.
"Rae...?!" Elissa yelled as she turned back around, and slid on her knees to his side. Tears of pain and sadness now started to form in her eyes. She picked up his head, and saw a couple bloodied spots on the back of his shirt. "No...you idiot..." she choked out as tears flowed like raging rivers down her cheeks. Many drops fell onto Rae as she cradled his head in her arms.
Rae's mom came outside because she thought she had heard someone yelling. Her jaw dropped as she saw a bloodied Elissa on her knees in her neighbor's front yard. "Elissa...?" she whispered. She started towards her, and she started seeing a body lying in front of Elissa. Her eyes widened when she knew for sure who it was. "No...Rae...!" she screamed out. "What did you do to him?!" She rushed over to Rae's side, pushing Elissa away from him. "You are a really cursed child, aren't you? First you screw up your own life, but why did you have to screw up my son's life as well?!"
Elissa just sat there, silently looking at her, her words playing over and over in her head like a broken record that she couldn't turn off.
Mrs. Irving started crying harder and harder, cradling the fainted Rae in her arms.
Elissa stood up, and shakily started backing off, thinking, "This...was all my fault..." She ran off to leave the bawling Mrs. Irving and the limp Rae to get along with their lives, without ever seeing Elissa for as long as they lived.
