"Where do you live, Elissa? Or, where does your dad live?" he asked her.
"He lives at 142 W. Skily Avenue," Elissa explained, as he wrote it down.
"Okay, you don't have to worry about your dad any further. From now on, he will be in jail, and he will stay in jail, until death," he comforted as he led her out of his office.
"Thank you, again," Elissa said, as she met back up with Rae and his family. "He won't be messing with us anymore..." she informed them as Rae took her in his arms.
"See, I told you everything would turn out okay," Rae smiled as he hugged her tight, and kissed her cheek happily.
"Can we...go now?" they heard Matt say almost in a hushed tone.
"Okay, let's go," Mrs. Irving said, motioning for everyone to go to the door.
When they returned home, they saw that the police were already at Elissa's father's house, and in the process of arresting him.
Elissa looked upon the seen, seeing that all of the policemen were standing behind their cars while gun shots were being fired at them. Inside, Elissa got a sinking feeling. "Rae..." she started whispering.
Rae turned, and looked at her, answering, "What is it?"
"I have this really bad feeling inside of me..." Elissa said, holding her stomach with one hand.
"What's the matter?" Rae said, coming closer to her.
Elissa shook her head, looking back towards her house. "I-I don't know...I just have this feeling...almost like my body knows that something bad is going to happen..."
Rae looked towards her house as well, and then looked back towards Elissa. "Don't worry...Everything will be just fine, I promise." He took her in his arms, and comforted her.
"I just still have...almost a guilty feeling...deep down...in the pit of my stomach..." Elissa sighed, still keeping her eyes watching her house and all of the policemen.
"It's okay...you have nothing to be guilty about," Rae comforted further.
"But...still...what if one of those policemen dies...because of me?" Elissa asked, tears filling her eyes.
"They know that it's one possibility. They went into their job knowing that they might die. They're fully aware of it," Rae told her.
"I know, but..." Elissa started, but then stopped herself when she saw a policeman fire towards her front porch, and then saw her father stumble forward with blood dripping from his side. "Oh my gosh..." she whispered. "Dad..."
Rae looked up at what she saw, and then looked back down at the expression of fear or terror on her face. "Elissa...? What's wrong?"
"Th-they shot my dad!" Elissa said almost in shock, but also with a hint of anger in her voice.
"Elissa...you don't actually care if they shot your dad, do you?" Rae asked as Elissa pulled away from him, and slowly started towards her house. "After all...he did abuse you..." Rae said after her.
"I know...but still...he's my father...the only family I have left..." Elissa said, still in her shocked state. She watched as four policemen went running towards him, one tackling him, and turning him around to where he was on top of Elissa's dad's back.
"You are now under arrest. Anything you say or do can be used against you in court!" she heard the policeman say.
Elissa watched further as she saw the other three policemen help pick him up and 'escort' him to the back of the police car.
Elissa's father struggled greatly, and glanced towards Elissa. "You little bastard...You son of a bitch..." he kept saying and mouthing towards Elissa.
Elissa felt a tear start to roll down her cheek as she watched him mouth off even more insults to her. "Dad..." she sighed, and ran towards all of the policemen.
"Elissa...!" Rae yelled towards her. "What are you doing?!" Rae went running towards Elissa, but it was too late.
"Let him go!" Elissa cried, and tried to push some of the policemen out of her way, but failed.
"Sorry, Miss, but we have direct orders," a tall policeman told her. He picked up his walkie-talkie, and said into it, "We've got him," while fending off Elissa.
"You don't understand!" Elissa yelled as she felt Rae put his hands on her shoulders.
"Elissa...please stop this. This is what you've always wanted, right? To be away from your father...?" Rae asked her.
Elissa spun around to face him, and said, "But he's my dad! They can't just take him away and..."
"Elissa...it's going to be okay," Rae said, interrupting her, and taking her back in his arms.
"Rae...he's the only family I have...I don't care how much he has beaten me...he's still my father!" Elissa yelled at him, and forced herself out of his arms. "Just get away from me!"
Rae stepped back a little, and, with wide eyes, said, "Elissa...you've..."
Elissa looked up at him for a few seconds, and then, with tears pouring down her cheeks, ran off into Rae's house.
Rae looked in the direction she ran, and then hung his head. He followed after her, shutting the door, and then headed up to his room. When he reached his room, the door was closed, and he heard sobs coming from inside. He lightly knocked on his door, and said, "Elissa...?" as he opened the door.
"I-I'm sorry..." Elissa sobbed. "I've just...never thought about...my dad ever being gone."
Rae went towards her side beside the bed, and said, "Elissa, it's okay." He put his arm on her back, and sighed, "I'm not exactly sure what all you've been through, but I'm sure you'll feel better about your dad being taken away. It's all for the best."
Elissa picked her head up from the bed, and wrapped her arms around Rae for comfort. "I know...no one else will be hurt because of him...and I'll be able to do whatever I want...but still...I've never been without him...but I guess the reason why I fear it the most...is because I don't know what to do. I don't have an actual life that I can just go on living with. My whole life was mainly his life. I don't think I've ever been able to do anything by myself, or without his saying.
"He told you not to run away, but you did anyway," Rae smiled. "And I'm glad you did because then I wouldn't have met you like this." He bent over and hugged her tightly.
"Thanks Rae," Elissa said, pulling back a little and smiling.
Rae smiled, and sarcastically said, "Wow...is that a smile on your face?"
Elissa laughed a little, and playfully pushed him.
"And that was just a laugh, wasn't it?" Rae went on.
Elissa hugged him, and said, "Thanks Rae...for making my life perfect."
