"That was almost too close..." she sighed.

"You know, you can't do this forever, right?" Rae said.

"Wait, what are you saying?" Elissa asked him.

"You can't hide in my house from your dad forever. Not to mention, sooner or later, my mom is going to want to know why you are spending so much time at our house," Rae explained.

"I know...once she does get suspicious of me, then..."

"Then what? You're going to leave?" Rae said, in a mad tone.

"No, that's not what I was going to say..." Elissa sighed.

"Oh, sorry...what were you going to say?" Rae asked.

"I was going to say that we could just tell her why I was staying there," Elissa sighed.

"Oh," Rae smiled. "But, what about your dad? You can't hide from him forever, and sooner or later, he's going to figure out where you are. It was too close of a call today."

"I know. If he does happen to find me, then I'll just run away again, and besides, you said that you'd protect me, right?" Elissa smiled.

Rae smiled as well when she said this, and said, "That's right, I will always protect you, for as long as I know you." He pulled into a parking spot at their school, and they both got out. As soon as Rae got out of the car, these groups of girls came almost running towards him.

"Hi, Rae!" they all chorused at once.

Rae sighed, and rolled his eyes, as he tried to escape from all of them, so he could talk with Elissa.

Elissa was standing next to his car, and she watched his flunkies group around him. She was actually quite amused watching all of them.

"Okay, you guys, you can go now," Rae suggested.

Then all of the girls almost fainted because he actually talked to them.

After a while of watching them, Elissa got bored, and started heading toward her first period class. Since the first bell hadn't rung yet, then she just sat outside her first period class. Elissa took a deep breath, and sighed, "Why do I even try? He probably didn't even notice me..."

The teacher came walking up to the door, and asked Elissa, "What are you doing out here, Miss Britt?"

"Nothing, Mrs. Williams..." Elissa answered quietly.

"Is something the matter?" The teacher bent down next to Elissa.

"No...it's just my stupid thinking..." Elissa sighed.

"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" Mrs. Williams was one of those teachers that you could talk about things with.

"It's just that...there was this guy, and I thought that maybe if I got dressed up or something, then maybe, just maybe he might notice...but he didn't even say one thing about it..." Elissa explained and sighed.

"I see...I thought you looked a little nicer today than usual," Mrs. Williams complemented. "And I also see that you're not wearing as much black. You finally added some color to your clothes. That red looks great on you!"

Elissa smiled a little, and said, "Thanks, Mrs. Williams."

"Why don't you try again? He's sure to notice the next time you see him."

"Okay," Elissa agreed. She stood up, and walked into the open classroom.

She went through her first, second, and third period. When the last bell for her third period rang for it to end, Elissa left her third period to head for the cafeteria. Elissa started looking around everywhere for Rae, but saw him nowhere. She sighed, and got in line to get her lunch. Once she got her tray of food, she started heading towards her usual eating place. "Maybe I was just being stupid...what if everything that has happened means nothing to him now..." Elissa sighed. Suddenly, Elissa felt someone tapping her on the shoulder. She turned around, saying, "Rae?" with lit up eyes.
