Chapter Seventeen- The Beginning of the End

Betty was attacked by the Black Hood who is back.

Betty was scared so she joined the farm but as a front to investigate from the inside.

Cally started to help Jughead investigate the game but came across a terrified Ethel Muggs in the bunker

Cally's POV

I had met Ethel once or twice, I'd seen her in the halls a few times and I met her when me and my mom saved Betty and the kids from the Sisters, but Ethel took off before we could get her home. So, the last place I expected to find her was here in the bunker.

She said she had been in the bunker for a few hours, so I grabbed her a blanket that we had stashed away and wrapped it around her.

She sat on the bed and Jug and I stood opposite her and questioned her.

"What are you doing down here?" Jughead asked.

"Hiding from the Gargoyle King. I'm terrified that he's going to kill me for failing my mission" Ethel replied.

"Mission? What mission?" I asked.

Ethel hesitated.

"Wait, you were the one that told Ricky to send that letter during prom? You led Betty right to the Gargoyle King and to the Black Hood? I thought you quit G&G after Betty saved you from the Sisters?" Jughead said.

Ethel shook her head.

"She saved me from the sister's fake king. But then I rejoined the true King in the woods after. When I came back to him, he put me in charge of his lost boys" she said.

"That Lord of the Flies gang that just chased us through the wood with spears?! Ethel you're playing Grypho- right. You're going to tell me right now who the Gargoyle King is" Jughead said, angrily.

"I can't, I can't betray his trust"

"Even when you just said he is trying to kill you?" I asked.

"He's.. beautiful. Despite it all, I love him" Ethel said, crying.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. I can't cope with this game. Jughead relates to it but honestly I couldn't be more confused.

"Okay, it's okay. But you and the lost boys can't stay in these woods. You have to end this game. Will you?" Jughead asked.

Ethel finally agreed.

We went off back into the woods with Ethel to find the lost boys and on our way Betty called Jughead and told him about things she'd found out in the farm.

"Betty said that Edgar hypnotised her to see another version of herself. Betty said she saw and talked to her 'dark side'" Jughead told me.

"What? How?" I asked.

"It was Polly, dressed as Betty and the hypnosis makes you think it's the person you're expecting" Jughead said.

"So when Edgar told Cheryl that she could see Jason he just hypnotised her and got someone to dress up as Jason. Same with my mom with Charles" I said.

"Yeah, Betty said she will call you later" he said.

We found the lost boys and all of a sudden they pointed their spears towards us.

"Stand down boys. The Hellcaster and Cally are on our side. They come bearing good news, our quest is complete" Ethel told them.

"Where's Ricky?" Jughead asked.
