Chapter Twenty Nine- When Will It End

After a brief hiatus, Riverdale's watcher had released his much anticipated follow up.

In the dead of night, a second round of voyeuristic videotapes had been left on doorsteps across town.

Once again, VCR's were dusted off with dread. And once again, they played hours upon hours of footage of the viewer's home.

Only this time, the camera was much, much closer. The implications were terrifying.

What was next? Breaking and entering?

And as if that wasn't terrifying enough, colleges and universities had started sending out their first wave of envelopes. Some thin, some thick, all life changing.

Making it a particularly stressful time for Riverdale High seniors.

Archie had still been hitting the streets at night, Cally didn't like it but he had been working with FP, which Cally still didn't like, but at least she knew FP would keep Archie safe.

And in the Cooper-Jones house, there was still trouble.

Alice had woken Cally and Betty in the middle of the night, telling them that Polly had mutilated a nurse at Shady Grove, the mental facility that she was staying at.

Cally and Betty joined Alice, FP and Charles in the dining room.

"This has to be a mistake. Polly's messed up but she's not a literal monster" said Betty.

"This is the security footage from Shady Grove" said Charles, moving his laptop towards Betty and Cally so they could watch.

The girls watched in shock as their sister attacked a nurse for no apparent reason.

"What the hell happened? She attacked that nurse for no reason?" said Cally.

"She said she'll only talk to Betty, alone" said Charles.

"Okay, then I'll go talk to her" said Betty.

"Before that, there's one more thing you should know. The nurse that Polly disfigured, her name is Betty"

The next day Betty went to see Polly. When Betty got home she explained that Polly had no recollection of what happened, she was convinced she didn't do it. Betty said Polly wasn't in a good way, she was panicking and scared.

Betty also said that Polly received a phone call shortly before the incident with the nurse.

Over at the community centre, FP had installed security cameras and alarms, alarms that contact FP directly if there is any trouble.

Cally was sat playing games with the younger kids in the centre while Archie taught the older kids boxing. Her phone rang, she saw it was Betty and headed into the office to take the call.

"Cally, I don't know what just happened but mom got a phone call, and then she went directly to the knife drawer, picked one up and came at me with it!" Betty told her.

"What?! You're kidding, right?"

"I wish I was, it was like she was hypnotised, as soon as I said stop, she just went blank, and then she asked me why she was holding a knife"

"Just like what happened to Polly. Maybe the phone call was from the same person. Maybe they hypnotised Mom and Polly to.. I don't know.. hurt you?" Cally suggested.

"That's what it seems like. Can you get to Charles' office?" Betty asked.

"Yeah, I'll be 5 minutes"
