Chapter Twenty Seven- Serial Killer Genes

They say every town gets the hero it deserves.

Riverdale's was Archie Andrews.

High school athlete by day, would-be crime fighter by night.

Patrolling the shadows of Sketch Alley down by the Southside Docks where Archie's community centre is.

You wouldn't want to be caught there too long after dark, that's when the rats came out.

And speaking of crime fighting, Betty Cooper was starting her training with the FBI and had enlisted Kevin Keller to join her.

And finally, Veronica was working hard at getting her mother out of prison, and keeping her father in.

Cally was at her locker when she noticed Betty walking over to her, wearing her FBI training uniform.

"Oh today was your first day! How was it?" Cally asked.

"It was good"

"Just good?" Cally questioned.

"Well, there was one thing. One weird thing. Charles was showing us photos of men, we had to spot the killer. I got it everytime, I could even spot it when none of them was the killer" Betty explained.

"B, that's not weird. You're just smart"

"No. Charles said that the one thing all of the killers had in common was the serial killer gene. The one that mom said I had when I was at the farm"

"Betty, come on. Let this go"

"I can't, can we both go to the doctors?" Betty asked.

"Both? Why are you dragging me into this?"

"Well if I have it then surely you will too. Don't you wanna know?"

"Fine. After school" said Cally.

After school, Cally and Betty both waited anxiously for the doctor to give them their files.

"So, from both of your files, it shows that Betty, you do have the MAOA and the CDH13 genes. Cally, you do not"

"How is that possible?" Betty asked.

"You're non identical twins, therefore you do not have the exact same genes. The gene has been inherited from a parent and passed to Betty, but it missed Cally"

The next day, Betty had another class with Charles, and she came home freaked.

Cally walked into Betty's room and caught her with all her diaries scattered around the room.

"Betty, what's going on?"

"I remembered" Betty said.

"Remembered what?"

"Our cat, caramel. Remember?"

"Yeah, I remember caramel" said Cally.

"Well the day she died, she got hit by a car and I found her on the lawn, in pain. I went to get dad and he took me back outside. He told me I had to take care of her. He handed me a rock and he- he made me.. I killed caramel" Betty told her.

"No, Betty that wasn't you. That was our deeply screwed up dad!"

"And we're not screwed up? I'm not screwed up?! I'm repressing memories of killing animals"

"B, is this FBI training too intense for you? I think you should withdraw" said Cally, pulling Betty in for a hug.
