Lost Souls (Archie Andrews)

Chapter Twenty Six- Halloween

Archie and Cally played the tape on Archie's tv and were horrified. It was hours worth of footage, just of Archie's house.

"What the-"

The next morning they called Betty to see if the Cooper/Jones house had received one, they had.

Betty told Cally that Charles said whoever is doing it is doing it to unsettle them. To let them know they're being watched.

Charles and FP started to work together to figure out who was behind it.

Over the next few days and weeks, more and more residents of Riverdale were receiving tapes, including Cheryl and Toni, Veronica and Pop Tate.

By the day before Halloween the residents of Riverdale were on edge. Who sent these tapes? What do they mean? Are they a warning?

Betty, Cally, Jellybean, FP and Alice were all sat in the kitchen having breakfast.

Living arrangements had been weird over the past few weeks, Betty had been staying in her old room with Cally, but when Jughead came home Cally stayed at Archie's.

FP had just finished talking to Charles over the phone. "The Muggs' also got a tape"

"Oo, I'll get over there and get an interview with them for tonight's broadcast. That's the fringe benefit of living with the sheriff, I get the inside scoop before any other reporter" said Alice, stroking the side of FP's face.

Cally, Betty and Jellybean watched, them all three girls shared a look, an uncomfortable one.

Their parents hadn't yet confirmed or denied whatever was going on, but it's was pretty obvious. There had been a lot of uncomfortable moments like this one.

Cally decided to break the silence. "B, is Jughead coming home for Halloween?"

"Yeah, that's the plan. We're gonna hand out candy and watch scary movies" Betty said.

"Oh, why don't you invite your brother?" said Alice.

"Half-brother" Betty confirmed.

"Charles doesn't know anybody in town. And you, Charles, Jughead, Jellybean and Cally can all bond"

"Why is Charles even still in town?" asked Betty.

"He's still helping me with the tapes and a few other cases" said FP.

"It's the one good thing to come out of this nightmare, brought the whole family together" said Alice, grabbing her coffee and leaving with FP.

"Except for Jughead, who's at Stonewall prep" said Jellybean.

"And Polly, who's in a facility being deprogrammed" Betty added.

Betty and Cally were walking the school halls headed towards the lounge. 

"Hey, what's going on with mom and FP?" Cally asked, stopping and turning to face Betty.

"Isn't it obvious?" Betty joked.

"So what, they're dating now?"

"Dating or hooking up. FP gave mom her old room back and is supposably sleeping on the couch but I've been down for water several times in the middle of the night and he's never there"

"Ew, isn't bed hopping supposed to end before their age?" Cally joked.

"I want mom to be happy, I do. But dating my boyfriends dad is a little-"

"Normal? They started dating before you and Jughead were even born"

"I know. We'll just have to find a way to see past it-" Betty noticed something behind Cally, down the hall.
