Chapter Nineteen- The End of G&G

Previously on Lost Souls...

Penelope Blossom revealed she was the mastermind behind G&G and Chic was pretending to be Jason and was also the Gargoyle King.

Hal was revealed to be alive and a part of the whole thing.

The final quest began, Archie fought another bear and won.

Cally and Veronica were forced to drink from chalices and Cally sacrificed herself and drank the last one, Penelope revealed all the chalices were poisoned and they get the antidote at the end. Cally was becoming weaker and weaker due to drinking more poison.

Jughead fought Chic and won.

Cally and Archie declared their love to each other.

Cally's POV

We started walking to the next challenge.

"Wait, I still don't get it. Chic had red hair because Penelope is pretending that he's Jason Blossom?" Archie asked.

"Can we explore the craziness that is Oedipus Riverdale after we're out of these damn woods?" Veronica said.

"And after we have the antidote" I said.

"How you doing?" Archie asked, still with his arms around me helping me walk.

"I'm okay, still dizzy but we've got to get through this" I said, not feeling great, but coping.

"Maybe figuring out how all this is connected is exactly what we should be doing. Hal, Penelope, Chic, they've created this unholy trinity with direct links to everything bad that has happened in the last three years. It's like Jason Blossom's death begat the Black Hood which begat the Gargoyle King" Jughead explained.

"But the Gargoyle King existed before Jason was killed" Veronica stated.

"Well then it's a case of the serpent eating it's own tail, a vicious cycle of never-ending madness that turns back on its self over and over again until someone breaks the chain"

A few minutes later we reached the final challenge.

"Well, it's my turn" Betty said.

Jughead pulled her back.

"I love you" he said.

"I love you too"

They shared a kiss and she went off to the top of a small hill.

She opened a box but none of us saw what was inside.

We saw the black hood walk from behind a tree.

I shivered and got goosebumps at the sight of him.

Archie noticed, and pulled me closer.

The Black Hood pulled off his mask.

"You know how this has to end. You have to kill me, Betty. That's your heart. That's your truth. You can't deny your destiny" my dad said, holding up a gun to Betty.

She raised a gun to him, must have been what was in the box.

"Don't make me do this, please" Betty replied.

"Either kill me and get the antidote, or I will kill you and your friends. You have until the count of three. You shoot me or I'll shoot you" he said.

We noticed the antidote hanging from a tree. Archie looked at me and I nodded, he went off to get it.

I went over to Veronica and we held each other's hand, watching what was happening with my dad and Betty.

"One.... Two..."
