Luka POV
After a few dazed and confused moments with intense arguments with my brain, I finally managed to move back to the place I'd been sitting before....that happened. I was still breathing heavily when I realised the fire was no longer needed as the sun was peeking over the trees, spreading light across the clearing. With the new light, I could see that Thorin had returned, and was sitting at the edge of the clearing. My face heated up straight away, as I looked down at my feet.
'What was that?'
I shook my head with a soft growl as the wolf started yipping and howling happily at the memory. She pushed at me to go to him...but I wouldn't give in. It would only end in disaster if I did.
'Stupid wolf...urges'
"Every one up!" Thorin deep voice suddenly filled the clearing, waking up the company. Not to mention a blinding heat in my cheeks as his eyes met mine. I looked down quickly to hide my blush.
"Be quick! We leave in 10 minuets!" He growled, walking over to his sword that lay on the ground were we had...er. The compay quickly set to work, waking up those who hadn't woken to Thorins' bellowing voice. My body felt on fire, my skin sensitive to every thing. I cringed as the fabrics of my clothes rubbed my burning skin painfully.
"Damn it!" I hissed, as a sharp pain erupted in my lower stomach as my muscles spasmed.
"No, no ,no" I growled, clucking my stomach in an attempt to stop the pain. This couldn't be happening now! How had I forgotten about this! I cringed and winced as the heat became more aggravating. I should have thought of this! It always happened when female shifters found there mates. Damn, I'd never realised it was this painful. I was in heat.
"Luka!-" at the sound of my name, my head shot up to meet Thorins eyes.
"Yes?" I whispered quietly.
"I said, could you scout ahead?" He sighed, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes!" I smiled happily, before scowling at my over-the-top reaction. I forced my tapping leg to stop, shaking my head at the thought of my leg taking over my tails job of 'wagging'. My emotions were gonna be even more...powerful until this was over. Luckily it only lasted a few days at a time.
I shrugged off my cloak, stuffing it into my bag along with my boots.
"What are you doing?" I paused to look up at Thorin, finding the whole company looking me oddly. I smiled widely, my leg beginning its ridiculous tapping again.
"My senses are better in my other form, and I only have a set amount of clothes. I'd rather not destroy another set." I finished before removing the rest of my clothes and stuffing them into my bag. I wasted no time shifting, internally laughing as I saw the look on their blushing faces and they span round to give me some privacy. But when I saw Thorin, my laughter turned to excitement at the lust in his eyes.
'Stop it!' I growled at my emotions, relaxing into the shift as my dark paws touched the ground. I shook myself, my ears swivelling as I took in every sound in the forest. Birds tweeting, the wind gliding through the trees leaves and of course the dwarves and bilbo. I could hear their hearts beating. I yipped happily as I looked at Thorin. My tail wagged furiously as I looked at them all, a toothy smile on my wolfy face.
"Aha! Did you see that brother!" Kili exclaimed, slapping his bothers shoulder with a wide smile smile on his face. I took in a deep breath, enjoying the earthy smells of the forest, and the alluring, calming scent of my mate. I looked around with my good eye, ignoring the blurry image coming from my damaged one. Every thing was sharp and vivd, every leaf, every blade of grass. Oh it felt good to be me.
I turned, taking my bag into my mouth. I held my head high as I awkwardly carried the bag towards the two pups, trying not to let it drag along the floor. Damn it was heavy. My legs strained as I tried to walk with the annoying baggage. I dropped it at the brothers feet before I shot off into the forest, yipping and barking happily. The sound of hearty laughter echoed behind me, making my wolfy grin expand more.
Every few minuets, I'd check in with the company. I'd run along side them for a few minuets, keeping close to my mate in an attempt to stop the pain that only he could put a stop to. Just being close to him helped but it wasn't gone completely. I'd heard about female shifters being in heat before, but I'd never though i'd experience it. It was uncomfortable and painful.
I nipped at the pups heels, taunting them as they tried to get me back. I'd shoot off the second they turned, barking with laughter as I did. I yipped as the bothers chased me, finally tired of my teasing, sending the company into laughter as they failed to get me again and again.
I shot between fili's legs, tipping him over along with his brother. I howled with laughter as they shouted in anger trying to get up from their tangled position on the ground. I finally took pity on them moving to help, but that was when I caught the stench.
Goblin.
My hackles stood up as I rushed forward to the front of the company. I growled at the mountains in the distance, standing in a defensive position. My ears lay flat on my head as I bared my fangs as if I could scare away the mountains. Dark clouds hung over them as always. I'd been here once and it had not ended well. I had scars from this place...and an arrow head too! Damn goblins and their arrows.
"What is it Luka?" Thorin growled beside me, startling me. I turned to him, whimpering. We had to go around!
'Danger' I whisper, pushing the thought to his mind with all my will power. By the stunned look on his face, he heared it. My wolf howled with excitement at the small victory. Thorin looked towards the mountain, assessing it. I watched as his hands grabbed the key in his pocket, his eyes glazing over.
'Danger!' I pressed again, but dismay filled me as his eyes darkened and he ignored me.
"Move out-" he snarled, his eyes fixed on the mountains in the distance. "-we reach the misty mountains at night fall!"
With that, the company marched past me, ignoring my attempts at pulling them back. Some cast me pitied and confused looks. Bilbo was the last, his eyes looking worried and confused.
"What is it Luka?" Bilbo asked softly, staring up at me from my side. I looked at him, my eyes filled with fear as I tried to show him what lay ahead.
'Danger!'
