Clementine sat in her homeroom class, twiddling her thumbs nervously.
When she entered the room ten minutes ago, her heart dropped when she saw her boyfriend's usual seat empty. She was late to school herself and Louis was always here before her, therefore she grew very sceptical. She wondered whether he was sick or not, but she knew that he would message her if he wasn't coming into school.
Next to her, Brody was yapping on about the group of friends having a movie night at her house in the next few days. Clem would tune in her attention sometimes but she was mostly eyeing her phone. The only message she had received from Louis was a simple good morning text at five o'clock.
Just as worrying thoughts began to invade her mind, the door of the classroom swings open.
A boy with dark brown hair and tanned skin enters, dressed in a white t-shirt, denim jacket and black jeans, with a pair of old trainers. With his hands in his pockets, he politely apologises to Mr Moore for being late then approaches his new group of friends.
Clem's attention snaps up to him and she lets out a small huff. He sits down in the free seat on the desk right next to Clementine's, where Louis is meant to be sat.
"Hey, Gabe!" Brody leans forward and looks over at the boy, a small welcoming smile on her pretty face.
"Hey," he returns the smile. He fixes his gaze at Clementine now, who was looking down at her phone. - "Hey, Clem."
"Oh, I wouldn't bother if I were you. She's been glued to her phone all morning," Brody rolls her eyes and shakes her head in a disapproving manner.
Gabe chuckles, "Okay, no worries."
The classroom door swings open again and Clem's head shoots up to see who it is. A smile spreads across her face and a relieved sigh escapes through her mouth, upon the sight of the very man she was hoping for.
"You might want to sit somewhere else," Marlon politely suggests to Gabe, who was sat next to him.
The boy was fairly scared of Louis. After the two had met for the first time yesterday, he felt threatened by the taller dreadhead. He wanted to avoid any further interaction with him, so Gabe nodded at Marlon and went to sit in another spare seat.
"I'm really sorry that I'm late today, sir. I'll try not to let it happen again," Louis rests his hands on the surface of Mr Moore's desk, leaning against it.
"Louis, chill out man! This is the first time you've been late in over a year - you're not in trouble," the older man smiles kindly at him. He's sat in his cushioned spinny desk chair with a pale yellow coffee mug in his hands.
He smiles, "Okay, thanks sir."
Louis turns and walks towards his desk, his freckled face lights up when he sees the exact face that contains unbelievable amounts of beauty within it. He was looking forward to seeing her all morning, it's what kept him going - the face that belonged to the love of his life.
Before sitting down in his usual seat next to Marlon, he places a loving kiss on his girlfriend's soft lips. She tries to hide the smile on her face.
"Sorry I'm late, beautiful." he sighs and sits down, turning in his seat so he was facing her. Clem's expression changes and she now looks worried as she subtly chews her bottom lip.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Nelson was working me to the fucking bone this morning," his jaw tenses and his head lowers.
Clem pouts and her eyes drift down to the floor. She didn't really know what to say; she wanted to ease his tense shoulders and take the building stress off of him, but she didn't know how to.
