There are a few things Louis had expected to happen from that first day back at school all that time ago; he would've got that scholarship, had a couple hundred anxiety attacks, perhaps he would've become a famous football player yet hating every second of it - he never thought he would have a baby with a girl he wished to call his wife. But now, sat on a blue leather sofa with his newborn in his arms, he found it impossible to imagine his life without her.
She looked so tiny as she yawned and clenched her miniature fingers into a fist, her eyes closed. Her warm golden skin looked perfectly flawless with a soft litter of faint freckles over her nose. Her hair was only short and thin in texture, but held a chocolate brown colour. Her eyes, when she opened them, were a gorgeous dark honey colour - a perfect mixture of her parents' palettes.
She resembled her mother in so many ways, yet resembled her father too. To put it simply: she was perfect.
Louis tears his gaze away from his baby to his beloved girlfriend as she turns on to her side, her tired amber eyes latching on to his with a smile.
After hours in labour, Clem was far too tired to stay awake afterwards, therefore was ordered by the nurse to rest. However, the uncomfortable single mattress that the hospital provided was preventing her from doing so, the springs prodded her back in all the wrong places.
Louis grins from ear to ear revealing his white teeth, "You're awake."
He keeps his voice low to prevent waking up the newborn.
Watching him embrace their baby with such delicacy made Clementine sigh in contentment. The sight was like a dream. The smile on his godlike face reached his gorgeous chocolate eyes, the freckles on his nose and cheeks appeared clearer than ever on his smooth skin. His dark dreadlocks were tied up, a few stragglers hanging loose helped to frame his chiseled jawline. The tiny baby in his hold made his shoulders look broader, his hands truly looked big as they supported the small figure. He looked too good to be true.
Clem scoots to one side of the bed, offering the other half to him. He sits closely next to her with his legs laid out and his back against the metal headboard, holding the baby on his lap. Clem rests her head on his abs, the hard cushions felt warm on her cheek even through the material of his hoodie. She gazes lovingly down at their angelic girl.
Louis puts an arm around Clem and gently runs his fingers through her silky dark curls.
"She's perfect," she smiles, her voice even softer in volume. Her voice felt like velvet to his ears.
"Of course she is, she's all you."
A small smile was stuck on his face as he spoke, admiring his two girls below him.
"She has your freckles and brown hair," she gently holds her hand, letting the baby wrap her whole hand around her mother's index finger.
Louis watches and his heart melts; this is the exact moment he had been dreaming of since the test revealed two red lines.
"Our little Celise."
The door to their private ward steadily opens and in come Bruiser and Carley. Their faces were cold like stone showing no emotion until they set eyes on the couple in the bed. Bruiser jogs to the side of the bed next to Louis and peers down at the baby, who was still sleeping soundly in her dad's arms.
"She's so cool," he keeps his deep voice at a minimum level, grinning at Louis then at Clem. "How are you feeling?"
Clementine reveals a sleepy smile while her eyes struggle to remain open, "I'm good."
