"Look, Luke, can we uh, go somewhere more private to talk about this?" Ashton asked his eyes shifting over the dozens of curious ones upon the pair.

Luke pursed his lips but stepped back, brushing off his shirt. "Lead the way." He said whilst crossing his arms.

Ashton fixed his shirt, switching the shoulders of his backpack. "Um, okay." He said.

Ashton began walking, feeling Luke and Calum at his heels. He hadn't any specific place in mind, but upon walking he found himself heading towards one of the old drama rooms.

"Uh, in here, I guess," He said, gesturing towards the empty room.

Luke and Calum shuffled in, exchanging strange looks; what was this room?

"Where are we?" Calum asked, looking around at the dusty cabinets and such.

"It's one of the older drama rooms, we don't use it often anymore." Ashton explained, taking a seat on the ground.

"Oh. Cool."

The hazel eyed boy nodded, feeling awkward and uncomfortable. "Well?" Luke asked after taking a seat, pulling out a wrap from his jacket pocket. "What happened with Michael?"

Ashton sighed, his head bowing down as he played with his fork.

"Well, okay, so Molly - you know, the h*e? - she came up to me before class..."

//

"...and then he ran out. I-I don't know where." Ashton finished, his voice shaky after describing the entire thing.

Luke and Calum exchanged a glance, both growing a little sympathy for the older boy. "Oh." They said, their eyes training on the floor.

"Yeah," Ashton scratched the back of his neck. "Oh God, guys, what am I gonna do? Michael hates me. I know it."

His head fell into his hands, trying to push the image of the look on Michael's face when he had caught Ashton and Molly to the back of his head. It hurt like hell, knowing he could make someone so loveable, that he loved so much, look as if their whole world was crumbling piece by piece.

"Ash, don't worry. I'm sure once you tell him what happened he'll forgive you," Luke said, putting one hand on Ashton's arm.

"I don't even know where he is, how am I supposed to tell him?" He said, his head raising slightly.

Luke bit his lip, looking at Calum for help. The kiwi boy sighed, reaching into his pocket.

"Give the in to Ms. Kayle, she'll let you through." He said, handing Ashton a 'sick' note.

"Calum, what the?..."

"They're for emergencies, geez."

//

"Thanks," Michael said as his mum handed him another tissue. He blew his nose into it, scrunching his nose up at its grossness, before throwing it into the trash.

"Mind telling me what happened, sweetie?" Karen said as she rubbed her son's back.

Michael shook his head, pulling his knees up to his chest. "Not really." He said. "Um, mum, do you... Do you mind if I sleep here tonight?"

Michael looked around the living room, which to him held a certain chill. He didn't want to be here, not until he had to, at least, but he also didn't want to go to Nanie's. That would require possibly seeing Ashton.

Karen smiled, gingerly kissing Michael on the head. "Of course not, Michael. This is your home. You can come by any time you like."

"Oh. Okay."

//

"Hello?" Calum answered his phone later that day. He continuously pushed the buttons on his Xbox controller, trying to keep his phone between his cheek and his shoulder.

"Uh, hi, Calum. Are you busy right now?"

Cal jumped, scared by the sound of Michael's voice. He was so startled that he didn't realize he forgot to reload, and ended up dying.

"Dam." He cursed, setting down the controller. "Hey, Mike. No, why?"

"I, um, I was wondering if I could come over."

"Yeah, 'course."

"Good, because I'm in your driveway."

Michael hung up and Calum laughed, getting up and heading towards the door. He opened it, finding a distraught Michael walking up the stairs.

"Hey, dude," He said to Michael, shutting the door once he came inside. "You alright?"

Michael shrugged, heading towards the kitchen. "Do you have any food?" He asked, his head leaning into the open fridge.

"Erm, Vegemite?"

"Always."

So Calum got the bread and Michael the Vegemite; and together, they made some toasted Vegemite.

"I don't want Vegemite anymore," Michael said with a slight frown and scrunch of his nose once they had finished. "Do you have the things to make cheese toasties?"

"Are you serious." Calum said after a moment of silence. "I wasted five minutes of my time on your Vegemite and now you want a cheese toastie? F*ck you."

"Whoops," Michael shrugged. "Oh wait- you have some Vegemite on your cheek."

"Where?" Calum asked, his hands flying up to his flawless face. //an don't argue about this with me.//

"Right..." Michael trailed, leaning in closer with his eyes squinted. He smirked, before licking the paste off Calum's cheek. "There."

Cal stood silent for a moment, his eyes wide. He turned to look at Michael, who was giggling quietly.

It was at that moment that two things happened simultaneously;

Michael forgot about Ashton.

And Calum was kissing Michael.
