Ashton kept a tight grip on Michael's pale body as he ran to his car. He could hear hundreds of feet behind him from everyone else, but only Calum and Luke dared to get closer.

"Should I phone the hospital?" Calum asked, tears in his eyes.

"Please," Ashton huffed. "Luke, keys in pocket. Open. The. Door."

Luke fumbled with the keys; he was shocked and scared and so sad to see his best friend like this. He choked back sobs as he unlocked Ashton's car, helping him put Michael in the backseat as Calum talked to the hospital.

"Drive," Ashton told Luke and he nodded once, turning the ignition and racing to the hospital, all his peers watching.

"Oh, f*ck," Luke cursed as they waited outside Michael's hospital room. They had been there for a good twenty minutes, worrying and fretting. "What's Mrs. Doyle going to say? We could get in so much trouble."

"Screw the principal, this is Michael's mental health we're talking about," Ashton said as he ran a hand through his cinnamon hair. Each of them had at least sixteen times.

"My mom's on her way," Calum said. "She said she'll talk to the principal later, but we need an adult here. The nurse said."

The other boys nodded and a tense silence fell upon them again. Ashton's finger constantly tapped his thigh, Luke kept bouncing his leg, and Calum repeatedly bit his fingernails.

Without Michael, they did not know what else to do.

"Wait," Ashton said, a random thought coming to mind. "What would Michael be if he were a superhero?"

"He likes potatoes," Calum said with a slight shrug.

"He'd be... a potato boy," Luke decided, before silence fell upon them again.
