"Papa!" Patton made grabby hands at Remy, asking to be picked up.

Remy laughed and lifted Patton off the floor.

"Did you have a fun birthday Patt?" Remy cooed.

Patton nodded and yelled, "Cake!"

Remy also nodded, "Yep, you got it all over your face."

Patton giggled as Remy wiped frosting from his nose. Axel walked in and Remy went quiet. Patton stopped giggling when he saw Axel and hugged Remy.

Axel smiled as he approached Remy and Patton, "Hey Patti!"

Patton's lip trembled as he tried to hide behind his dad, "Papa?"

Axel laughed, "Yep! I'm your Papa!"

"Dad, you're scaring him." Remy said.

"Don't be ridiculous." Axel scoffed, trying to grab Patton out of Remy's arm's.

Patton started crying, hiding his face in Remy's shoulder, "No!"

"Dad stop." Remy nearly growled, rubbing Patton's back.

"He shouldn't be afraid of me!" Axel yelled, wrenching Patton out of Remy's grip.

Axel pushed Remy back as Patton screamed and cried. Remy fell to the ground, hard.

"No!" Patton screamed, tears streaming down his face. He reached for Remy, crying, "Papa! Papa!"

Remy quickly stood and scooped Patton from a shocked Axel. The one-year-old clung onto his father, crying loudly. Axel slowly stalked toward the other two.

"Did he call you 'Papa'?" Axel towered over Remy.

Remy gulped and stumbled over his words.

"Are you a fucking tranny!?" Axel barked.

Remy flinched back, tears in his eyes and holding on to Patton tightly. Axel scoffed.

"Get out of my house." Axel hissed.

"W-what?" Remy squeaked.

"Take your damn baby and get the hell out!" Axel yelled, "Now!"

Remy ran out the door without another thought. He would try and go back later when his mom came home. Remy walked along the sidewalk, trying to calm Patton down. He walked past a skatepark.

"Hey!" A boy yelled, "was the kid worth it, whore!"

Remy ignored him and continued to walk. A girl went up to the skater boy and smacked him over the head. Another boy stood with his skateboard, shaking his head.

Remy's phone buzzed with a text. He quickly checked it.

Dad- your stuff is in the yard. Get it before I give it away.

Remy sighed and put his phone away, heading back to his house. Patton had fallen asleep, his thumb hanging out of his mouth. Remy smiled and rubbed the child's back.

Remy reached his house to see all his clothes and possessions thrown onto the grass. He sighed and set Patton down on a blanket. Remy grabbed a duffle bag and started filling it with clothes, blankets, and little things he could sell if he needed.

Once Remy packed everything he needed for himself and Patton, he picked up his son and started walking. Where? He didn't know. He didn't know anything anymore. Except one thing.

Remy knew he would protect Patton to his last breath.
