"Hey kid. Aren't you, um, a little young?" Tony Stark asked you.

The Avengers are assembled in a semi-circle around you, ready to attack you in any moment. You had to be nice. But first, you had to understand the people around you.

Rhodey. War Machine. Though short, you knew that he could summon his suit at any moment and smash you to smithereens.

Tony Stark. Billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist. Iron Man. Like Rhodey, he had a suit you didn't want to interact with.

Steve Rogers. He had a shield that could slice through your body, and was pretty much impenetrable. If Thor joined him, you were a dead human.

Bruce Banner, or the Hulk. As Banner, he was one of the most respected scientists of all time. As Hulk, probably the most feared of all time.

Natasha Romanoff, or the Black Widow. A deadly assassin. Like Thor, you didn't know much about her.

Wanda and Pietro Maximoff. The two powerful freaks, but you weren't going to tell them that anytime soon.

Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. He... shot arrows.

And that was all of them, or the ones who were here at the party.

"Uhh, kid you there?" Tony asked again. You snapped out of your gaze and saw the Avengers getting more and more tense. You put on a smile, though on the inside you were  panicking.

"Aren't you young to be at a party where there's drinking?" Tony asked as he walked up to you. You slowly come up to meet him. Switching your glass of water to your left hand, you gave him your hand to shake.

"I'm sorry, about that. My name is (Y/N) (Y/L/N). I got an invitation to your party and decided to come," you replied, ripping your hand out of his and reaching to your bag to show him the invitation.

"Huh,"  he mumbled, "must have been a mistake."

You couldn't help but feel a little hurt. Your posture faltered at your decrease of confidence. You looked at the Avengers, and they looked down, feeling slightly embarrassed, but none of them helped you.

"So," Steve started. You looked at him, hoping your (Y/E/C) eyes didn't show  as much hurt as you were feeling. Of course it was a mistake. "Aren't you a little young to be drinking?"

You gave a confused look, but burst out laughing when you realized he's talking about your wine glass filled with water.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Rogers,"  you said, giggling, "but this is water."

His face became red as the Avengers smirk. Tony turned back to you.

"How old are you kid?" he asked.

"(Y/A)," you responded.

"You've got heart, kid," Steve spoke up. "Where are you from?"

"I live around here." Please don't get to personal, you silently begged. You didn't need sympathy right now.

The Avengers crowded around. They started some friendly talk, hoping to hospitable. But you knew it won't last. Besides, it was a mistake. The invitation. Once you leave, you'd be gone from their minds forever.

You  smiled, trying to take in the moment, but your smile slightly faltered when you heard a rumbling in the distance. None of the other Avengers seemed to notice, but you couldn't help but notice the water in your glass shake.

Only Banner, who you hadn't really spoken to yet, seemed to notice your silence. You looked up at him with nervous eyes, and he interrupted the other Avengers.

"Umm, guys?" Banner said. The Avengers silenced themselves.

"Something's coming," you whispered, finishing his sentence.

You heard the wine glasses at the bar clinking together with the rumble, and your heart raced.

Natasha reached for her gun which was hidden in her dress's belt loop. Steve got ready to grab his shield. Rhodey and Tony got ready to summon their suits. Clint activated his bow. Thor reached his arm out and the sound of metal flying through air whizzed past your head, but you didn't flinch. You were too distracted by the vibration on the heels of your shoes.

"I like this one," he said. You gave him a worried smile in response.

Wanda started to make small red orbs in the palm of her hand as she looked at you.

"Get behind the counter," she told you.

You quickly nodded and slid through the opening in the counter and sat down, shielding your head.

Your chest quickly rised and fell as you heard Steve whispering a plan to his teammates.

Your heart continued to race in anticipation of an attack. Sweat formed on your neck and formed on your curled hair.

The rumbling got louder, and Steve shouted orders to his team.

You only heard one word he said.

HYDRA.

The window where you had once been standing shattered and chaos began.
