Your eyes slowly opened as the light blared. Your whole body still hurt and any numbing the Avengers had given you did nothing to help.

"Where's Peter?" you asked, breaking the silence, besides the occasional beeping.

"He's fine," Steve's voice answered. You slowly turned to find Steve standing there with a hard look on his face.

"Is... everything ok?" you worried. Wrinkles around his eyes had formed, which was very unusual for him.

"It would be better to tell you later, based on your condition," he glared.

"I'm sorry," you whispered.

You had screwed up. Majorly.

"No, (Y/N), it's NOT ok!" Steve yelled. His words hit you with a force you'd never known before. "You or Peter could have died. Do you not understand that?"

"It wouldn't have been your fault," you insisted.

"Yes, it would have," he scolded. "Because  gave you those plans, I let you guys do what you wanted. And all of that's on me."

You could feel your face heat up. Not only had he embarrassed you, but he told you that he didn't trust you.

"Is Peter okay?" you asked quietly, feeling shame ripple through your veins.

Steve sighed. "Yeah. He's okay. You?"

You were about to say yes, but your knife wound stung like crazy, and your body still felt like it was on fire. "I... don't know."

He furrowed his eyebrow. "What do you mean 'I don't know'?"

"The HYDRA members there, they injected me with a green liquid. Everything hurts."

Steve paled and turned away from you.

"Do you know what it is?" you asked, wringing your fingers. Whatever it was, it left a large lump on your side.

"No," he said.

"You're a terrible liar," you teased. Still, you could tell something was wrong, and it was making you nervous.

Steve shook his head.

"What happened last night?" you whispered.

"I'm going to go check on Peter," Steve sighed. He quickly left before you could object.

"Steve Rogers, you get your butt back in here right now!" you still yelled, but even the small act caused you to feel tired. You leaned back into the hospital bed.

You looked around and found your reflection in one of the windows. Your hair was a mess, your face bloody, your body was swollen. Something had changed, though. Something about you was different, you just couldn't place a finger on it.

You were in a hospital gown and you looked awful. That's all you could see.

"What's going on?" you questioned when Natasha came into the room.

"No 'good morning'?" She gave a small smile, but it quickly faded. "You're lucky you made it last night."

"Yeah, yeah. Don't give me the same speech Rogers did. No one will tell me anything!"

"You're shoulder's looking better," Natasha commented.

"Nat!"

She gave you a hard glare but sat down in the seat next to you. "I told the rest of the team about what happened. And before you start anything," she said, gently placing her hand over your mouth. Nothing like what HYDRA did. "Tony doesn't know. Besides, that was the best news I have to give. So please control yourself if you want to hear anything else."
